Photo Renderings: Volkswagen Passat four-door-coupe
Based on the latest prototype that has been spotted of the upcoming Volkswagen Passat four-door-coupe, we have obtained some new photo renderings of the car from designer Christian Schulte. We’ve been hunting for as much as information we can get on this upcoming Mercedes CLS inspired car but official details remain sketchy.

It will probably be identical to the normal Passat's, at least in the front (dashboard, trim, etc.).

Very nice especially from the side view, the front grille and rear light need to go. But on the other hand, it remind of the old gen Chrysler 300M?

but i am a nissan maxima fan and they say the next maxima is suppose to have a cls feel to it
so i dont want there to be to many of cls type cars out

Very nice. But the nagging question: is there a market for it?

I would assume that people who want a high-style sedan for a low price would get this... but how low will the price really be? It better not be over $40K or VW is making a huge mistake. $35K, tops.

How can a 4-door be a coupe? A Coupe is 2 doors, always has been. Just cause the pillar may disappear does not make it a coupe, still has 4 doors. And I'm pretty sure the word coupe means 2.

My 02 Civic EX Coupe was 2 doors, and I'm pretty sure my Matrix is a 5 door hatch, not a 4 door large trunk opening, high back sedan.

One thing you can count on is that if VW keeps upping their prices, they are going to, well, they already have started to price themselves into Audi markets. Hence the Phaeton never made a splash. If the Phaeton had come out a little differently it could have competed nicely against the Chrysler 300 market. But they apparently though that someone looking for a loaded A6 or the like would rather drive an $80,000 Volkswagen.

I am in complete agreement with you, there is no such thing as a 4 door coupe. I just a lame marketing plan started by Benz to justify a cramped back seat.

Ironically, this car is coming from a car company the has misnamed it's flagship car the Phaeton. A Phaeton has traditionally been a convertible(open-air) sedan.

4 door coupe makes about as much sense as the old Rambler 2-door-sedan.

Still a sedan to me, I goe by doors, not pillars.

Looks nice.
But its just a graphic artist's rendering of what he/she thinks it might possibly look like.

When do we see the real car?

Put the V-6 TDI in it with DSG and I'm sold!
