Next Generation Audi S4 to Get Forced Induction

Next Generation Audi S4 to Get Forced Induction
Miss those days of the turbocharged B5 S4? Yeah so do we, but now we have news that the new Audi S4 will return to its forced induction ways for the next generation S4 that is currently being tested on the "Ring." Fourtitude reports that the current V8 in the S4 belongs more in a car such as the sport tourer the S5 and not in the S4.

Kinda makes sense

Forced induction V6 engine will keep front Weight Down while keeping HP & Torque Figures Competitive, Should have nice V6 noise too

Agent 007, you are not current on Audi news at all.

We knew the B8 Audi S4 was going to have forced induction when the A4 was introduced.

That is precisely why Audi did not release the S4 with the new A4. They have a different engine in development for the S4.

YES!!! Finally!!! I love my S4's V8, but it's always there, and I am just so excited for their return to a bi-turbo V6 (this is most likely what it will have). That 3.2 should be out of the lineup... NOW. It's so incompetent. A 280-320hp A4 3.0T is more like it, with a 380hp S4 and a 480hp RS4.

Should be in the 350 range.

This is brilliant! Fantastic! Audi returns to their roots. Twin-turbo everything! I love this!

The 4.2 V8 is great for sure, but not sporty enough. It has lots of power but it's too smooth and too civilisized. It's the perfect GT car engine. But the A4 is no GT.

Looks like Audi has come to reason they can't quite beat BMW in the high-revving department. First the twin-turbo RS6 and now this! Love it!

believe it or not the audi v8 is probably the most sporty engine...generally naturally aspirated engines are the more sporter ones...why do you think the 95% of race cars use naturally aspirated engines?

The reason why allot of race classes don't use turbo's is because they aren't allowed to turbocharge them.

I drive an Audi V8. Over 6000 rpm it runs out of breath. This is typical for any normal V8.

I also drive an Audi V8... it sounds gorgeous and has torque everywhere, but no, it's not their sportiest engine.

Im a fan of the whole bi-turbo, but as can be seen- the current engined V8 Variant isn't too much different in terms of weight(which would make most sense to cut back 2 cylinders). Im almost possitive that Audi will introduce a v8 Bi-turbo in the new s4 and a more tuned version for the rs4, if not the v10 thats rumored for the rs5. That would make most sense in terms of competition numbers, in fact outweigh competition numbers(besides maybe the guys over at AMG).

there is no way the S4 is getting a V8 TT, it might be a V6TT and the New RS4 will probaly get a V8TT just like the RS5 will. There will be no V10 in the RS5.

jmr, you beat me to it. There is NO way the S4 is getting a TTV8.

And I think the V10 is also doubtful.

This is all very confusing. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

I'm also very excited for their diesels... A4 3.0TDI will be a frugal beast.

the 2.7t engine weighs a little under 440 lbs. The same goes for the v8 in the Audi, Weighing in at 430 lbs.

Let me guess. You appear to be real uncomfortable in your own skin etc. etc. etc.

Take a deep breath and be kind to yourself.

yes, it may weigh more than the BMW 335i, but it will have the horsepower, steering, brakes, handling, and feedback to defeat the BMW.
