New Official Nissan Murano shots leak early

A very nice evolution of one of the better looking/most distinctive vehicles of the road today.

Agreed! I was never fan of the original look but I like when cars evolve. And they did a good job on this one!

I like Nissan engines but they can stick the CVT where the sun don't shine. The styling of the Murano is too weird for my tastes.

you must be one of those 60+ lexus drivers... This car wouldnt appeal to the old yet any Buick would.

These designs are all looking the same, very derivative, very predictable- in a word GENERIC.

No real discernable corporate design identity seems to exist. It changes completely with every new iteration for most of them. You could take the tags/labels off most of these designs and you wouldn't know a Toyota from a Nissan etc.

IMO -There is a feminine aesthetic that seems to be pervasive among the Far East Mftrs.

All I know is that I HATE links within links! As for the Exterior, it is not my taste, but it is a step in the right direction. Def a more modern edge and the Land Rover type roof is a nice touch.

A great evolution for the Murano!

It's not really an evolution, but it appears to have a semi-identical body and completely different light clusters. It's definitely interesting, if not pretty.

BTW, this would technically be the "poor man's FX," because they are on the same platform.

I find the current Murano very boring; I'm not really sure why (combination of bland interior, CVT and boringly-tuned engine, perhaps?), but this one is much edgier and I think I'll like it.

Fact Check:

The FX and MURANO are most certainly NOT built on the same platform.

The FX is built on the same (RWD) platform as the Inifinti G-Series/M-Series

The Murano is built on the same (FWD) platform as the Altima/Maxima.

Note: As one to often call into question other's automotive knowledge/credibility... Hmmm?

ALL of those cars are on the FM platform, but with different layouts. The FX and Murano are closer in size than the Murano/EX (the EX is paired with the Rogue)--and yes, I was aware that the Murano is FWD-based and the FX, RWD.

The Nissan FM platform is a modern FM layout automobile platform. The name is derived from the "front midships" location of the engine, referring to the engine's center of mass being located behind the front axle centerline, shifing weight to the middle of the car, leaving the front suspension less encumbered. The engine is pushed as far back to the firewall as possible, creating a weight distribution that's close to 50:50, as well as enabling engineers to place the front wheels as close to the corners as possible for better handling. This platform debuted with the 2001 V35-series Nissan Skyline, and has been used as the basis of nearly all of Nissan's REAR and all-wheel drive applications since its inception. The platform has been revised recently for use in the JDM Nissan Fuga/USDM Infiniti M35/45, being stretched in wheelbase and reinforced for additional torsional rigidity. This version is referred to as the "enhanced FM" platform.

Note: The 2007 - Altima is on the new (smaller) Nissan D platform.

The new Murano is built on the Nissan D platform now too. The Rogue is built on the Sentra platform.

Looks better than the old one.

Maybe this is their new design idea for their company?


[Side note:] Am I the only one here who thinks EL34 and 43LE are simply alts and he uses them to make conversation with himself? Not saying that's the case, just saying they seem very similar, and talk the same way, and immediately reply to each other. [end side note]

All the crossovers are marketed with women in mind and the truck based SUVs are marketed to men. There is nothing wrong with that and most are great vehicles. So ICON, don't knock it's feminine styling (I would say that the Amreican crossovers are just as feminine, aka. Edge, Enclave, Acadia, Outlook, Pacifica, Cadillac STX). The Murano is intended to appeal to women whereas an H2 or FJ Cruiser isn't.
