Future MB's to resemble CLS

As predicted by Auto Spies, future Mercedes models will carry many signals of the CLS in their designs.

The new CLS sedan was on display at the Miami Auto Show last week. In person the four door CLS does not look good - at least in dark blue color. The odd thing about the CLS was that everyone walked by the new SLK, the SL, the E-class and C-class were all mobbed but the few people that stopped by the CLS just yawned. I think the future success of the CLS is in question - I think it has all been media hype to date.

Another strange thing about the Miami Auto Show was that the new Lexus GS 300, which was shown in silver, had lots of people looking - most thought it better looking than the CLS. I was staggered by this reaction because in the photos the CLS looks 100 times better than the new GS.

If you have been to an auto show lately, and if you have gone at a time when the press wasn't there, can you report if you have seen the same reactions from the unwashed masses to the Mercedes CLS sedan and the new Lexus GS 300.

To OOF

As mentioned above dark blue is not a good color, this makes me suspect black will not do the car justice either. Burgundy looks kinda ghetto to me - but if you like the color go for it. Silver on a M-B is way to past-its-prime. How about Pewter?

Although I hate M-B (due to their inability to face up to reliable issues, and deal fairly with resentful customers) I have had a CLS on order since the early summer with the hope of buying one and flipping it quickly. Based on admittedly limited data (the underwhelmed crowd reaction to the CLS in Miami) I am now thinking there won't be a shortage of CLSs.

We'll see I don't have to make a decision for a couple of months.
