Chevrolet Beat Concept to enter production
After 1.9 million online voters elected it as their favourite from the trio of minicar styling studies shown at the 2007 New York Auto Show, Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper announced that the Beat concept will enter production. The newcomer will maintain the Beat concepts core values – namely compact dimensions, modern, youth-oriented styling and great value for money, coupled to low fuel consumption and an environmental footprint befitting of a vehicle designed for urban use.

This vehicle is like the Smart car, but looks good. I only hope that driving one of these urban vehicles becomes hip. I'd love one, only because I'd then have more room in my garage for other hobbies.

Hmmm... one of these and a Miata would take up roughly the same space as a typical SUV in a garage.

So the BEAT won out over the other two... Hmmm?

I surely thought that it would have been the GROOVE, since it seems much more like a SCION competitor, or even the TRAX with its mini SUV persona and all.

Nice to see GM embracing this automotive segment, and, if this pays off, the other two might see production as well.

I prefer the Chevy's small and aggressive look rather then some of the competitors small and cute approach.

Otherwise, it's okay. I'm not blown away--the VW Up! is more distinctive.
