LA Auto Show: Jaguar XF U.S. pricing announced

Jaguar today unveiled the new Jaguar XF for the U.S. market. The Jaguar XF, which replaces the S-Type, will go on sale in March of 2008.

In the U.S. the Jaguar XF will only come in a base 4.2 liter V8 engine that will produce 300 horsepower and a 4.2 liter Supercharged V8 engine that will produce 420 horsepower. Jaguar will offer three trim levels including Luxury, Premium Luxury and Supercharged.

not to fond of the color...they should of introduced it with the traditional Jaguar Racing Green.

the car is very attractive though...hopefully this helps pull Jag out the gutter.

i wonder when the new XJ will be designed/released, its been living on that design for a while now...killing its sales.

At that price the XF is going to sell OK but hard to imagine how it is going to save Jaguar. I have seen the car in person and it is dramatically better than the S-Type but to me it is just OK. I will be shocked if it sells as well as the Lexus GS. I doubt it will even put a dent in 5-Series and E-Class. If the XF sells 1500 a month it will be a hit. I wonder what Jaguars sales exxpectations are for the XF are?

It's a JAG that gives the impression of offering much more engine/value for similar money than either BMW, AUDI, LEXUS or Mercedes.

I think it's a great strategy, especially when you're trying to be as competitive as possible.

But where is Jaguar's V6 vehicle. While U.S. gas prices are on the rise, is this such a good strategy? I'm sure within a year Jaguar will realize their mistake. Mercedes E-class, Audi A6, Infiniti M all have six cylinder options (which sell more than the V8's)

When buying any new vehicle, the 'perception' that one is receiving MORE (of anything of value) than they would buying some other make (at the same price point) is definitely an important factor, and could sway many buyers to this Jaguar.

Again, Offering an actual 8-cylinder engine for the price of competing manufacturer's 6-cylinder engine is a very smart move in this market.

Note: It's not like 'competing' vehicles that do offer 6-cylinder engine options are really much more fuel efficient their 8-cylinder variants anyway.

why are you looking for a six when there's a V8 on the table? Rule of thumb: always opt for the biggest available engine. Horsepower is a safety feature. Try merging into freeway traffic with four cylinders, and see what i mean.

The Subaru 4 pot will make the jag V8 sweat too

pushrod27, I own a car with a four-cylinder (A3), and it's just about as easy to merge into highway traffic with that car as it is to merge with my eight-cylinder S4. Your point is invalid. It depends on the car itself, not the engine.

The wheels do not fit the car's character at all. They look uncannily similar to those VW offers on the GTI. They look super-hot on the VeeDub, but on a big elegant sedan? No. Callum can design flawless Astons... but he really doesn't know what he's doing with Jaguar. So many components of the XF (and updated XJ) are sorely mis-matched and ruin the design.

They are somewhat similar to those on the VW GTI minus the depth- the GTI's are flat faced (those that I know of are). The wheels are also quite similar to the those offered on the Lamborghini Gallardo with the exception that on the Gallardo the spoke is split at the edge. Actually there are 2 wheels on the Gallardo that are similar both to each other and to the XF one seen here.

I like the car I guess.....but this car just does nook like a Jag to me.

I know they're trying to remodel themselves a bit and the design is nice on this car. However, Their traditional design cues just don't have the right proportions for me to recognize this as a Jaguar.
