I don't think its a bad idea. I hope they do it. They should sell those Arab Sheiks the Town Car. Apparently they like the Grand Marquis. I wish them well with it.

which arab sheikh is going to be driven in a town car when they already have S/A8/7's/LS's and not to mention Maybachs/Rolls/Bents

If ford gets back on its feet, I see Lincoln going places and eventually compete with Cadiliac, Infiniti, BMW and Merc.

If you really believe that, you're dumber than the guys at Ford. This bonehead idea may be the one that finally puts them out of business for good.

That's a very big 'IF' right now Obliv. Ford is hemmoraging and to fix the problem they are cutting off limbs (jaguar, volvo) to stave off bleeding to death. Soon it will be Ford, Lincoln, Mazda (their only true money maker) and Land Rover. Mecury is about 2 seconds away from death like 'Olds-person-mobile' was a couple years ago.

It would be prudent for the blue oval to follow in the bow tie's business strategy by improving their luxury brand. However before trying to take on the world...they might want to improve their base market first by giving the american public the Lincoln "CTS". GM can do bold things like expand their brand outside the US, because they will never collapse thanks to their financial branch...Ford dosen't have that luxury and shouldn't start alienating its core market.

It seems to me their business concept is...keep building crap because apparently the Russians, Saudis and Chinese are willing to buy it. The 'Building to the base level' concept only works for a couple years before it tanks and drags the entire company down with it.

Ford take note...Fix your family problems at home before trying take on the world.

Dumbest Idea Ever. This is Ford's worst idea since the Edsel. Why would international buyers want this? Even Americans don't want Lincoln.

Ford is completely ass-backward. They want to sell Jaguar, but they think Lincoln can compete internationally. Truthfully, Lincoln (and Mercury) should be discontinued all together.

If Ford wants to follow Lexus so bad, they should pay attention: Lexus is having a very hard time breaking into international markets, and they build a car that's 10 times better than what Lincoln is trying to sell.

It is hard to believe that some of us don't think Ford and GM can produce luxury cars that can compete on a global scale. All of the money they've been pouring in those foreign brands could have been spent else where to produce better American luxury cars. It took long enough, but they're starting to see the light.

ford needs to invest some global cash and maybe 1 platform not relate to Mercury and Ford. And maybe use the mustang platform for a Lincoln coupe & droptop. Volvo comes first they sell in the Europe, and sell Jag/Land Rover.

The Navigator is absolutely atrocious. The MKX and MKZ are alright, nothing special, cheaply made. The Town Car is horrible, but limo services lap them up. Fake wood and "aluminum" trim everywhere. They don't even have ample trunk space, which is ridiculous.

Oh and BTW, the faux wood used in Town Cars is probably the fakest fake wood I've ever come across. You tap it, and it sounds like plastic. It's no thicker than an iPod nano. Just terrible.

We have towncars in Britain (stretched ones) and I've been in a few for parties etc.

I didn't like them very much, they felt inside exactly the same as Chrysler Voyagers...
