LA Auto Show: Lotus Supercharged Elise SC - 220hp that make you smile

Lotus showed its updated lineup at the 2007 LA Auto Show, showing the new Exige S with 240 horsepower. But we were more concerned with the new Lotus Supercharged Elise SC.

The Supercharged Elise SC is powered by a 1.8 liter 2-ZZ VVTL-i engine that produces a total of 220 horsepower that make you smile like the front of the car. 0-60 takes only 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 150 mph.

You can tell the Elise SC apart from the regular Elise by its new rear spoiler and the unique design of its alloy wheels.

sometimes i wonder the same, also if anyone will ever get around to putting the BMW 3L TT, Nissan VQ35/7, or even a Audi TT 2.7L V6 in this car.

No, it will only work with a four-cylinder. A six would ruin this car.

I think Audi's 2.0T, Subaru and Mitsubishi's engines (STi and EVO) and even the engine in the Mini Cooper S would work well in this application.

how about the 2.0 in the solstice gxp? with 260 hp in production form, 300 isn't a reach for a specialty car like the elise...the toyota engine wasn't impressive when it debuted about 10 years ago, today it is not even competitive and is keeping the elise from reaching its potential as a modern day shelby cobra

There's nothing wrong with Toyota engines. If it had a BMw badge would you think otherwise?

If it had a BMW badge I can guarantee they would lose their respect for BMW. I don't think it's as much the car as it is the relation the car has to Toyota.
