What BMW model saw sales drop 51% in November?

7-series refresh can't come soon enough for BMW

7 Series sales totaled 1,137 units in November, a 51.6% fall from the 2,349 units sold in November, 2003. Sales for the first 11 months of 2004 totaled 14,579 units which was a 22.9% decrease from the 18,910 7 Series sold during the first 11 months of last year.

Let's not forget that Autospies has been a consistent fan of the 7 Series - I believe the boss owns, or has owned one. It must be humiliating to realize the market is voting no, just as Lexus LS sales are going rather well (through Oct 2004 LS sales are 26,283 versus 18,334 for the same period in 2003). You'll recall that Autospies dispises the LS430 to such as extent that it mislead everyone about interior volume comparisons with the M-B S Class and 7 Series earlier this year.

In case folks are interested here are the 2004 and (2003) Jan-Oct sales figures for select luxury cars
BMW 7 series 13,442 (16,561)
M-B S Class 16,349 (18,557)
Lexus LS 26,283 (18,334)
Jaguar XJ 8,455 (8,175)
Audi 8 4,855 (2,893)

And folks one other thing to contemplate: with the dollar collapsing against the Euro currency the implication is that eventually German manufacturers will have to substantially raise prices - in my opinion this is what will ultimately make the 7 Series and S Class of marginal relevance to the US car market
