Lutz: Chevy Malibu exceeded expectations by 2,500 units

It seems like GM has a huge hit on their hands with the new Chevrolet Malibu but the company has exceeded the sales expectations in the first few months of sales by 2,500 cars. According to Bob Lutz, the modest GM had originally projected to sell about 500 units in the Malibu’s initial month. Lutz now tells Reuters that GM is on track to sell about 3,000 units of the new Toyota Camry and Honda Accord competitor in November.

Wow, good for GM. I have to admit that it is not only a good looking car, but it is a car that looks really well built and it is also a higher standard than what I am used to from GM.

I wouldn't say that...GM's been on a roll lately. Enclave, Arcadia, CTS, Aura, GMT900's, Silverado. Older hits: Sky/Solstice, Corvette Z06. But if you mean a mainstream car from GM...then yes.

awesome car. now americans have a great car from an american company. now they can trade off their entry level sissy looking camrys and accords and get a real midsize car with class. and wow it's american.

It's nice, but I hate to agree here that 3,000 is nothing to get excited about. That's maybe 1 extra on eat each dealer in the U.S.

Good start, but has some ground to cover. Hopefully it'll do well. I like the way it looks... Except the swiches on the doors... Not sure why they used those when they have beter buttons/switches right there on the dash.
