Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder

Porsche is presenting a new version of the mid-engined Boxster roadster at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy on December 5 - 16. In its distinctive design, features and philosophy, the Boxster RS 60 Spyder echoes the classic motorsport era of the 1960s, and in particular the success of Porsche sports cars during that period. After countless class wins around the circuits of Europe and America, in 1960 the Porsche Type 718 RS 60 Spyder beat competitors with much larger engines to score its first overall victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida, USA, one of the most prestigious long-distance sports car races, courtesy of Hans Herrmann and Olivier Gendebien.

The Boxster to me always seemed to be a poor mans Porsche. Kinda like the name given to the 926 of old. My friend who owns a classic 911 that he does Auto X with used to laugh when those drove by, he still laughs at these things. If you want an open roof Porsche, get a Targa.

Correction it was the 924. And referring to a poor man's Porsche in the 911 style, it was the 912, which had a 4 cylinder engine of the Porsche 356

Yes the 944 was what I meant, again thanks for the correction. I know that the Boxster performs really well, I wouldn't personally turn one down. But I feel for their price tag they should be a little more appealing in the looks department. The one above is nice, but the car could use some help with its lines.

I like it. The GT Silver combination with Carrera Red interior looks great for me, and I've always loved SportDesign wheels.

I like the Boxster actually. I would get the S if I got one, but its a great bang for the buck car. Now I would rather have the Cayman... or a Vette for that matter, or even a Lotus. But the Boxster S is a great car. "Poor mans Porsche" or not, it still comes in over $50k.
