Spy Shots: Jaguar XF-R spotted in UK

I have been told they will be using an all new 5.0 V8 engine for the XFR, this looks like a mule to me!

This will be one seriously tuned engine, it's gonna be awesome!!!

I get so tired of everyone saying car look like this or that. There are only so many ways to do something. Some little piece of one car may have a slight resemblance to some little piece of another. Ever heard of the saying "form follows function"?
If I look at someone's fat ass I don't say I saw another ass that looked just like that one last week. It doesn't make that persons ass any less original but it form and function are similar.

Maybe thats a bad example but (no pun) I think it makes my point. It comes down to overall execution as to how each individual element fits together.

If I were like the rest of you I would have complained when Bentley stole its front end from Jaguar. But I didn't. I took the design as a whole and enjoyed it.

So let try harder to see things as a whole and maybe we will all feel better.

Well #1, that is completely irrelevant in its context. You weren't talking about how this car is ugly (which it isn't), but rather how it looks like other cars.

And #2, that's not a Jaguar philosophy. Jaguars are about sexy, elegant style. Form OVER function. It's hard to argue with that.

Lets see this car in the flesh before we say shit.

Jaguar should make this XFR as aggressive as possible, i want to see more flared arches, deep front fascia grill, and a bit more updated and serious looking headlamps. I think that the side and the rear profile of the car are just fine, and also addition of a matte color choice will also be great. Please make a new wheel design, this design of GTi wheels don't match the car's overall design that much. And the interior should only be changed with more sporty seats, but nothing more should be changed. And Please tune the car to drive well, don't make it a cruiser. And about 520 HP should be achieved rather than only 500 HP. And then we will be a game in our hand against the M5. Trust me there is no bigger jaguar lover over me, but i am not going to be satisfied with jaguar doing a so so job. They should make a car as good looking and aggressive as they possibly can, something which i believe that they did not do with the base XF. The case should be like that of the impreza, the base and wrx versions are pretty conservative, but the STi is a total mean machine, i think that Jaguar should similarly make the XFR the most aggressive that it can possibly be.

Best of luck to Jag, but don't think it will work. last time they had the S-type R to face off with the last generation M5, E55, and RS6, they failed, quite badly. But its always worth another try...

With the 580hp RS6 and a similarly powered M5 on the horizon, Jaguar just isn't there. This is a good next step but first they need a new V8. It's a good engine but it's not efficient enough--they need a SUPERCHARGER to get 420hp out of it when BMW got that power out of a smaller, naturally-aspirated V8!

Otherwise, I don't know what to think about the XF. Right now I really want them to get rid of those VW GTI wheels. They look completely out of place. But I'm waiting to see the car on the road. I hope I'm impressed. From the pictures, I'm not.

I've seen the supercharged car and in the flesh, and it blows the competition away with ease. I've read on another site that the next XJ will get the all new 5.0 V8 first and then the XK & XF will follow soon after!

If they can get 500bhp out of a 4.2 V8, imagine what they could get from a 5.0 V8(something close to 600bhp!!!)

Their 4.2 V8 doesn't have 500hp. It has 420hp. You should know this, being a Jag salesman. The XF-R will have 500hp, but it will be a much larger V8.

Last time I checked the Supercharged 4.2 had 420h not the NA 4.2

So i think they will need a Supercharged 5.0 to get 490-510 hp
