Rumor: Audi bringing R8 convertible, R8 V10, and TT-S to Detroit

The R8 V10/RS8 won't have the twin-turbo RS6 engine. Problems with cooling (that's why the prototypes caught fire on the Ring).

Audi is currently experimenting with non-force fed V10s.. not a big fan.. makes it too close to the Gallardo.

Come off the ceiling... the RS6 is old news. The R8 conv. would probably be similar to the gallardo. The TT-S is already a green light for production. Thanks, But No Thanks.

Should be interesting. The only thing is, they are not bringing any new concepts, only different versions of present production cars. Hope they bring something radical.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with the name TT-S? I hope marketing comes up with a better moniker for what would otherwise be a great car.

Ha! Nice catch. Sort of like how everone sniggered when Porsche released the 'cayman'.

Sorry...I'm an old man who likes 5th grade humor.

Now if only Audi would announced a diesel version for the R8, and make it readily available for the US market. This will complete me.

I am very interested in all three--but I want the R8 V10 the most.

Really?

BMW put a V8 in the M3 because of the S4 and RS4.

BMW is putting twin-turbochargers on the M5 because of the new RS6.

BMW would not have a twin-turbo six of any kind if it weren't for Audi's 2.7T.

Their V10 has been lauded repeatedly in the S6 and S8... and in at least three comparisons, the S6 beat the M5 in spite of its power deficit.

I don't like doing this. I love BMWs and they make excellent engines. But you force me to.

Why do you have to like BMW... AND bash Audi? Do you feel threatened or something? Because--get this--I have an Audi AND a BMW in my garage! I know, I'm such a freak! I only like cars! And guess what... I like... BOTH of them! OMG! How can I not like the BMW 10000X more than I like the Audi? And in the next few years I'm going to do something really crazy. I'm probably going to get a new Audi sedan... AND a BMW convertible. I know, I'm insane. They're like oil and vinegar, right?

Anyone that claims to like BMW but hates Audi, cannot possibly be well informed! Do some research amazinBimmer and you might be surprised.

Audi developed the Lamborghini's V10 engine.

Audi's 4.2 liter, 420 horsepower V8 is also recognized as one of the best engines in production. That is why it is seeing double duty in the RS4 and the R8, two phenomenal cars.

It is similar to BMW's turbocharged 6-cylinder that has seen duty in the 335, 535 and upcoming 135.

You are correct when you said relatively amazinBimmer because some of Audi's engines are world class.
