It would probably be Carbon Kevlar if anything.

Carbon Fiber maybe, but I doubt that they would use Kevlar (or any combination thereof) since the chemical composition of Kevlar (poly para-phenyleneterephthalamide/para-aramid)uses a matrix that inherently tends to absorb moisture, making Kevlar composites are more susceptible to failure due to this environmental sensitivity (especially moisture/weather)than glass or graphite (aka Carbon Fiber) composites...

That would mean that in rainy/moist climates, the panels might delaminate/fail... Not Good!

But that's what I did for 20 years in the USAF, Aerospace Structural Engineering, and composites were/are the name of the game.

Many (structural) technologies developed for aircraft 'trickle down' to other transportation designs, just look at what's being done with aluminum alloys these days... Making vehicles lighter, stronger and longer lasting - Great Stuff!

Pity they didn't get interior shot, would have loved to see if had BMW new DSG in it.

This is going to be a great car. would anyone care to elaborate on that?

It looks excellent, but nothing unexpected.

For the records (I have a 328iC), with the top down there is zero usable trunk space. Also since the top is really heavy, driving dynamics change somewhat with the really heavy top stowed relatively high in the trunk.

It will be interesting to see how many people oversteer this one into the bushes and/or guard-rails when driving with the top down.

If they use a Carbon Fiber Roof then there should be significant weight savings and it will go a long way in eliminating the effects you speak of.

I don't know why they bothered taking the BMW logo off. It's obviously a BMW. Anyway, I think it looks really nice.

I think its garbage. The old M had a more significant presence. This looks like a 3 series with a body kit. I think they could have done a lot more in the styling department to set it more apart from the 3.

The roof design is fugly from every angle. Only automotive nerds will recognise this thing on the road, looks too similar to the bland base model for me!

It appears to be the case with (almost) all retractable hardtops, but more so those having more than two seats.

The LEXUS SC, Chrysler Sebring, BMW 3-Series, Pontiac G6 et al look terribly mis-proportioned with their tops in place, and suffer from little to no usable trunk space with their tops retracted.

Only Mercedes seems to design truly handsome retractable hardtops, with the VW Eos looking fairly nice as well.

eh... this design of the new E92 don't do it for me. Need to step it up from E46, not the other way around! I like the E46 better. The back bumper sits TOO high for a car like this.

Can't believe that with as much experience in the field, they would screw it up! BIG TIME!

Tail lights look like a mazda 626.Wheels also suck,but the rest of the car looke good.

Come on... This might be the worst looking BMW coupe (convertible) ever. Have you not seen the 3rd & 4th pic ? The rear looks way too plain for a Bimmer. Actually it looks like a decent 25K volume coupe.

I am not saying I wouldn't love the CAR to the engine, aesthetics are a different issue though. Shame on losing the overwhelming instant get appeal of the E46 M3.

I agree on the fact that one should not go by reviews because they are sometimes biased and someone else's opinion after all. Go and Test drive ALL cars and then make your OWN judgments.

People follow reviews too much. It's like if someone said "Oh by the way, you can jump into shark infested waters but, they won't kill you because I said so" And the funny thing is people would probably NOT jump in. Same applies to buying cars...
