Spies catch the return of the Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing Supercar in testing
Disguised in Viper-esque cladding, Mercedes is caught desert testing the car that will usher in the revival of the Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing.

Sources tell the Spies the real car is actually cooler looking than the SLR Roadster.

It was even more cool to have one when the 300SL was first seen in North America half a century ago. It sold for $12.500 in Canada at a time when a small split-level house could be bought in the Montreal area for the same price. The C$ was worth less than the U.S.$ back then. A Rolls Royce was only a couple of thousand more at the time.

It was definitely a car for a young man to lust for. I never bought one but I still have a clean copy of the original brochure.

Daimler-Benz has a lot of work to do for the new sports car to have the same cache' as the original 300SL coupe. The chassis length of this new one is way too long for my tastes. The distance from the front axle to the driver is about a block long! It must look something like the current SLR which also has a super-extended front end.
Go back to the drawing board, Mercedes Benz!

Looks too much a viper to merit any interest.
