Lincoln expected to overtake Mercury in ‘08
According to a Ford marketing head, Lincoln sales have been on the rise and are showing signs of taking over its Mercury sibling in 2008. Lincoln is on track to finish the 2007 year with its first annual sales increase since 2003. Sales were up in October by 14.7 percent, to 112,678 units.

“We are above what we expected to do,” said Mike Richards, Lincoln Mercury general marketing manager. “We’ll have continued growth next year.”

imagine what lincoln could do if they had nice designs.

thats a lot of sales for such an ugly line up.

the 0nly lincoln i would buy right now is the towcar and thats only if i were a limo driver.

Whatever do you mean iamdabest1? Lincoln's current designs are nice even though I am pissed off at Lincoln for basically letting the traditional big Town Car slide down the toilet.

So is there really a compelling reason to even keep Mercury around? Ford has a 3 tier approach to selling some of the same models, most all other companies have 2 tiers. I almost think it would save them money by dissolving the Mercury line and splitting the money/time/effort between Ford and Lincoln.

3.7L V6, 270HP for $48K...aren't those the kind of stats that got Acura in trouble with the RL? Was anyone gonna mention that? This car could be doomed before it loses that new car smell.
