Ford’s small new innovation deserves special recognition

It’s one of those things you see and you think to yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?” While it may not be that big of a deal we feel Ford’s new backup camera deserves some acclaim. Instead of embedding the rear-view camera system in the navigation system like most cars, Ford will be fitting a back up camera right in the rear-view mirror in some of its models. The $450 option is available on the F-series Super Duty, Lincoln Mark LT, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and the Mazda CX-9.

Now with no major movement of the head, the driver can look directly at the rearview mirror and at the rearview camera just by moving their eyes.

This idea was not invented by Ford.
This has been on aftermarket for a while now. You probably
can find one in Fry's.
Google it, and you will see.
Ford/Mazda may be the first OE company to integrate it.

You are absolutely right. I have had a rearview mirror monitor (for show purposes) in my 300C for two years now.

I saw it in the Lincoln commercial and I was stunned it is a really good thing that they decided to have it on their cars. You don't rlly need a 10 inch screen its good enough to see if there is ne thing directly behind the car when reversing things that u might not see in ur rearview

Whatever happened to just looking behind you when you back up?
Thats what I do...and I've never hit a kid.
