Would You Buy A Lexus Just For The Priority Parking?
Lexus drivers in the Greater Philadelphia Region now can have priority parking at the Wachovia Center as part of a new sponsorship package between Lexus and arena owner Comcast-Spectacor.

"Lexus continues to be a great advertising partner of ours," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "As we continue to look for new and exciting opportunities for our fans and our sponsors, Lexus remains a terrific partner.

"As a result of this new arrangement, we're able to offer our customers who drive Lexus cars an opportunity to park in a specially designated space with other Lexus owners."

As part of the new three-year advertising and sponsorship package, Lexus drivers can park in a designated Lexus parking spot in either of two lots in the Wachovia Center (C-Lot and E-Lot). Additionally, these new parking sections will feature Lexus advertising prominently featured on the light polls.

The new sponsorship package also includes advertising signage inside the Wachovia Center where Lexus already owns the naming rights to the arena's private, exclusive courtside club. Lexus commercials will also air during Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers broadcasts on Comcast SportsNet. Additionally, Comcast SportsNet will now air a Lexus sponsored "Sports $ense" segment regarding the financial sports news.

Comcast-Spectacor (comcast-spectacor.com) is the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment company which owns the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL), the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA), the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL), the two arenas in which their teams play, the Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum, four Flyers Skate Zone community ice skating and hockey rinks and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia. In addition, Comcast-Spectacor is also the principal owner of Global Spectrum, the fastest growing firm in the public assembly management field with more than 70 facilities throughout the United States and Canada; Ovations Food Services, a food and beverage service provider; New Era Tickets, a ticketing and marketing company for public assembly facilities; Front Row Marketing Services, a commercial rights sales company; and 3601 Creative Group, a full-service in-house advertising agency. In a partnership with Disson Skating, Comcast-Spectacor annually produces 10 nationally televised figure skating spectaculars on NBC.

a lexus is clearly no symbol of superiority. if you mentioned a car that's not attainable by the masses then you can talk.

I prefer to call the headline "encouraging discussion". But I'm not sure if that headline was inflammatory.

For instance in the Dallas market. You can pay up to $250,000 for only the license to buy season tickets for a Cowboy game in 2011. (they are pretty much sold out till then. So buying a $40,000 Lexus to secure a premium parking spot isn't that big of a stretch now is it?

I'm giving the finger to Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko and the Wachovia Center.

They know where they can stick their parking slot!

Not really. Would I buy a Lexus for it being a Lexus, sure. But not for a parking spot. Besides I prefer to park in the back to get out easier.

First Lexus introduces an auto-parallel-parking feature. Now this priority parking deal in Philadelphia. As the Lexus marketing team is supposed to be so astute, they must have determined that Lexus owners have parking problems!

Like those automatic cruise control, I think that self park feature is just another way to encourage people to become a less skilled driver. Next thing you know, they'll kill somebody with a rental car.

Oh yeah !! So true .. Automatic cruise control makes us all bad drivers , so does

1) ABS ..: gives us slack jawed braking ability
2) Automatics - too lazy to use our right hands
3) Synchro's in manual shifter - damn it .. just push it hard !!!!
4) Starters in engines : - I mean nothing a good arm twist and some elbow grease cant solve ,...plus that starter crank can be used for keeping away the nay sayers.
5) Automatic anything : its makes us slow and comfortable..

I so agree with your point of view "JohnTravolta" .NOT!!
Maybe its all that tight polyester or that BeeGees music of grown men singing in a high pitch voice that has warped your sense of what it mean to drive...
But i suggest you get of your "shiny Disco ball" and join the rest of us here back on planet Earth..

I kinda agree with izfunny. You guys bash these ideas and concepts however I personally find them to be cool. Doesnt make me less of a driver. I just like gadgets and for my car to be able to do cool and neat things.

Made a great point!!!!!!!!!!! Especially for those of us that actaully like kool features. On BMW's the turn signals automatically turn off when you change lanes. Does that make me a lazy driver when I could just push the darn thingy back up for lane changes???? Is it necessary, NO. Is it neat to have...YES! Get over bashing the little ideas that offend idiots. Most of the features are OPTIONS, meaning you can opt not to have it in your car!!
