Rumor Mill: Nissan Dumping North American Racing Program
Rumor has it that Nissan has determined that NISMO North America/Nissan Racing North America is too expensive and will be discontinued.

If this is indeed true then it would spell the end to all Nissan sponsored teams in CORR (offroad racing), Grand Am and Drifting under the Nissan banner.

That would mean any potential upcoming teams racing the GT-R would have to do development outside of the Nissan umbrella, making development much more difficult.

Pretty bad timing if you ask us.

Now remember this is just a rumor but no one inside Nissan is denying it at this time.

But now comes the question. Aston Martin, Audi and BMW have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that racing sells cars. So how well can Nissan market a performance car and not race it?

Is Racing that important to the success of Nissan?
