$104K For Insurance! What Is the Most You Ever Have Ever Paid For Insurance?
Barbara Wellensiek knew her son's insurance bill would be steep because of his driving record, but when the renewal notice arrived she was shocked to see the annual premium was $104,566.63.

"I thought it was a typo," Wellensiek said today. "I didn't panic - I thought it was a mistake."

When she phoned her insurance broker, Access Insurance Group, she got confirmation that the figure on the notice was accurate, the rate having been hiked from $1,300 per month.

"I just about fainted - how could this be?"

1,300 a month is absurd just the same.

I pay 1,400 a year and I think I'm getting screwed.

"He got his first car at age 16. His licence was suspended twice. Since May 2005 he has received 10 speeding tickets, and has been in two minor "fender benders" and a rear-ender that totalled his car."

What a jackass

Back in the early 1990's, I simultaneously owned the following:

Porsche 928 S4

BMW M3 (SE)

Jaguar Vaden Plas

I was under 25 and paying near 550.00 a month with a SPOTLESS driving record in So Cal.

I agree this idiot should not even be drving, especially with his kind of mentality behind the wheel. But I must admit to the fact that insurance companies within the canadian provinces are a bunch of cash cow cons. They think of anything and everything just to hike up the rates, wether you are great driver with great history, or just a complete moron behind the wheel...

Wow,

That is your solution to the problem - wishing death upon another person?

Can I meet your mom? I want to congratulate her on the fine job she did.

I don't know why you guys are calling the kid names when I'm sure all of you speed at certain times.

In fact, most of the time when I'm on the highway everyone else is speeding and I follow along as well.

Any 16 year old, aspecially one who is into cars will speed without a doubt more often than the avg age. Cops also know that and that's who they attack first. My father speeds and never gets pulled over.

So no need to call the kid names for doing that, think about when you were young once...did you run more often than you walked? I bet you did...

Showtime I'm 19 and drive a subaru sti...I've had one speeding ticket and no accidents and I'm very much into cars. From what I read, this kid is a straight up goon who's probably into cars, but is better off having a chick drive his 240 for him

1995e34- i hear you man. im sure everyone on this site speeds and the majority of them race every once in a while but when you do decide to race someone or go over the speed limit, you can't be wreckless as this kid obviously is. lol theres no defending this kid

these days, teens in my groups are getting stupider and stupider. insurance rates are high as hell for us, and plus I feel as if others are scared of me when I'm behind the wheel. there were 7 accidents in the state of md, involving teens. I don't mind if they raise the driving age up...

Where is his accountability to pay his own insurance ?

If his mother keeps bailing him from his responsibilities she is simply endorsing his delinquent and irresponsible behavior and yet she complains?

His behavior reflects a disregard for himself and others and hers reflects that she is actively participating in his foolishness by funding it .

Conclusion -- The apple hasn't fallen too far from the tree .

Yes, obviously this kid hasn't had any reprimand for his actions. And no accountability given to him by his parents. Of course he doesn't feel the need to change his actions.

You can already tell how the mother is placing the blame on the police..always someone elses fault, but never the child's.

Barbara Wellensiek is ull of shit! I want to know the name of the carrier. No insurance carrier would offer a renewal for a single driver rated on a single vehicle for the annual premium Barbara claims to have received. If her son'd driving history were that egregious the carrier would non-renew. This industry is regulated and no state would approve these rates. Insuarnce companies have to submitt rates to each state in which they operate for approval. Barbara needs glasses.

There's gotta be an extra zero in there somewhere, thats just an insane price for car insurance.
