Chevrolet Lumina SS named 2007 Best Sports Saloon in Middle East
Leading UAE based magazine and one of the world’s most established and authoritative motoring titles, CAR Middle East, has named the Chevrolet Lumina SS as “Best Sports Saloon” for 2007. The ‘Car of the Year (COTY)’ awards were launched this year to coincide with the 9th Middle East International Motor ShowAccording to Shahzad Sheikh, Editor of CAR Middle East, “The Chevrolet Lumina SS has a 6.0-Litre V8 Corvette engine under the bonnet. Need I say more? This all new-car from ‘down under’ is a fantastic reinterpretation of the cult Lumina SS.

No other car offers this level of practicality, performance, and potential tail-sliding fun for the money.”

Bodes well for the eagerly anticipated Pontiac G8.

Note: The Lumina proved to be such a monumental dud here in the U.S. that Chevy couldn't even consider using that name again.

well here in the middle east... we really do care about petrol expenses & this car drinks petrol. So i dont like the lumina here in united arab emirates.

how many benzes are going to use the AMG 6.3 V8? What difference does it make? It's a great engine, use it everywhere you can. Nissan uses the VQ V6 in every car it makes.

I dunno if its true, but chevy claims the lumina is specially made for the gulf, and its really popular. Its a nice small saloon, but the reliability is abit off.

Read carefully, Lumina SS was not named as car of the year but won in it's class, Sports saloon.

I have the December Car issue, and The Car of the year was Aston Martin V8 Sportshift.

btw i too don't like Lumina, i don't know why all these arabs are crazy for this thing. Should better get the C63.
