Early look: New 2009 BMW 7-series rendering
Due for introduction late next year as a 2009 model, BMW’s next-gen 7-series saloon has been spotted in recent months undergoing testing on both sides of the Atlantic. Though the test cars revealed some basic details such as the overall shape and wheelbase, their heavy camouflage meant the car’s final look has remained a mystery.

These latest renderings give us an early look as to what to expect, compiled using information from past spy shots and sources close to the project. As the images suggest, the styling of the next 7-series will be heavily influenced by the current 3-series and won’t be as radical as earlier predicted. The car’s overhangs will be longer than the current model but will sit lower and wider, giving the car a sportier appearance.

I just think this car is only going to improve on an already good thing if it looks anything like this photoshop.

Is everyone convinced that the next wave of bimmers will have that smushed-in face?

I think so. Just look at the concept CS was a peek into the company's future design themes.

For starters I love the rims and the turn signal on the front fender!!! Nice. But what happened the the bangle butt? I was expecting something more different but I guess it was a conservative move on the part of the BMW design team this time around. Looking forward to the interior.

I hope you don't think this is actually the REAL car.

Its not but I think its a good indication. The headlights and grille im very certain will look VERY close to that. The rear not so much.

Front looks awesome, back looks hideous

The rear is more representative of what will happen - it follows a theme BMW have had for years.

Any Butt-Less-Bangled is a step in the right direction, but those side-vents look like such an afterthought.

Note: The 'overstyled' tail lights are rather poorly integrated as well...

That's because this is a PHOTOSHOP. Not an actual car!

I like the side vent/turn signal and the way it sits between the fender and the door. Its very original and UNCOPIED. I wouldnt be surprised to see it copied by other brands after the car's debut.

I'm not crazy about the tail lights, but they're still much better looking than the current Chrysler Cirrus rear-end and the bulging fenders just look awesome. This car is beautiful looking, so I hope the real one looks closed. Loved the last 7-series and I really despise the current one. This is a step back toward good design.

Front running light look like the new gen MB C-class

Rear is just Absolutely Hideous, look like a Hyundai, Honda rear, or even a Saturn.

The side look really good.

And they also Copy Lexus 8-Speed Transmission.

GRRRRRR!!!! CAN YOU GO ONE DAY WITHOUT SAYING CAR A COPIED CAR B COPIED CAR C COPIED CAR D??? That's ALL YOU SAY any more!!!

And I suppose Lexus copied tractors, which have had 8 speeds or many more for decades? Or any 4 speed with a low range transfer case = 8 speeds?
My bike has 21 speeds, does that make Lexus' box worse? NO!!!

Not everything copied everything!!! It's just constant improvement!!! More speeds, more efficiency!!!

And hopefully this new BMW 8 speed will be a proper new 8 speed rather than Lexus' effort, which is their old 6 speed with 2 new overdrive gears!!
Merc's 7 speed is more advanced than the Lexus one!!

Actually Lexus, Mergedes had an 8-speed transmission first lol: http://eurotruck-importers.com/archive/dieselmogs.htm

Ok, the headlights are from the 5 series, the grille is from an X5, the tail lights look like come concoction from an older 335, and the body... well, the shape of the car in this "rendering" is good. We just have to see what the real thing looks like, I expect it to look way different than what we picture it to be.

Please let this be the next 7, what a huge improvement this would be, those tail lights still need some love though. I just can't stand the current 5 & 7 series design, especialy the 5, it looks like it's wearing 50's kitty cat glasses.
