Report: Honda recalls 43,000 Acura RL sedans

A recall from Honda?? Wow...Things like this is un-heard of....

01-02 Accords and Civics had recalls on trannys. This is nothing new for Honda. You just don't hear about them as often.

Not trying to be too sarcastic (because I actually like the RL), but isn't 43,200 RL's basically every single one sold?

I don't think any major manufacturer is immune to defects. But I do think Honda takes more precautions than most. The larger you are the bigger the recalls.

Btw. Can't wait to see how Acura fixes the next RL. If they can trim the weight and add more power that would be interesting (doubt they will) At least it's getting a major body change. I love the rear of the car. They just need to change the front.

I thought that the RL was pretty nice looking, and seemed like a sedan that shouldn't have sunk. But I guess it is what it is, and it bombed badly.

Just $10K over priced

And understyled, and no V8 option, and boring to look at, to drive, to sit in...

The RL isn't crappy, it suffers from poor marketing and a family resemblance to it's very successful cousin from Honda, just like the Lexus GS and Toyota Camry. People say Acura should offer it with a V-8, but the cars in its class that offer V-8s usually sell many more V-6s than 8s.

The Lexus GS looks nothing like the Toyota Camry... and it sells fairly well. Better than the RL, at least.

The news out of Acura is rivaling the news from Detriot these days.

They really need to offer a v8.

The RLS first two years of the FMC they were selling almost 3000 a month just in the last two years sales has declined to about 400 a month (can't explain) I agree the RL needs to be bigger but ugly it is not and funny thing is I see more RL's in NE than I do GS's. S4 I like how you claim to have driven or own almost every vechicle, the RL is not plain inside. Acura offered traffic nav, paddle shifters, AWD and other options well before any of the other Japanese luxury makers did. Further more the RL's mirror turn signals weather MB had them first or not and it's HID headlights makes it look expensive. Don't get me wrong change is good though and I hope the new refreashed RL comes strong.

Excuse me, but it's not hard to have SAT in any of these cars at the auto show. The rest, I gather from rather obvious reviews.

Ha ha, I drive an 06 Hyundai Azera Limited for 16 mos and have 12,300 miles with nary a problem. The car rides like a dream, has never had one body squeak or required anything other than routine care. Oh yeah, the front shocks were replaced, under warranty because they were somewhat noisy. It replaces an Acura TL is comfortable, has all the bells and whistles, and cost thousands less than the RL, and other comparable cars. Oh yes, it has the flying H on it and causes "badge distress" to some suburban snobs. Ya gotta luv it!

I actually like the Acura RL, its a pretty good car and you get alot of features for the base price of the car. Unlike for many ofthe vehicle sin its class. I think you might hav eto check off a few of the options boxes to equal. But yeah I think they might be recalling all RL's since they really dont sell that well.
