BMW Plans Big Job Cuts Next Year

Its a business. Unfortunetly This can be expected...

Maybe they're firing the crack team that dreamed up the BMW Aztec (sorry, X-6) and the staffers who thought i-Drive was such a great idea?

I don't know where the Aztek comparison is coming from but the job cuts surprise me given all the propaganda about BMW's success and high profitability. Does BMW know something about future auto sales that the rest of us are in the dark about or is there a compelling reason to increase profits quickly to new heights in order to boost share price?

I know I am going to get razzed for this, but just remember, I wanted to get a lugh from some people when I say this.

Can you please be original "Aztek" grow the hell up and fast. Yes, the X6 which will soon be copied by it competitors is a great looking car might I add, definitely form over function but creative in its purpose. Wait till you see it in person, and I personally think it looks nothing like an Aztek, proportions are not usually captured well with photographs, but neverthelss it looks beautiful (to me). Mind you, no interior shots have been posted so expect something new

If they are firing the people who though I-Drive was a great idea, then those from Acura, Merc and Audi will all be getting fired because they all have interpretations of the I-Drive, it's not a complicated system, not the best but it's not as complicated as you little uneducated babies make it seem.

My 2 cents for the day, wish i could add a dollars worth but hey.

lol...i remember when the iDrive first came out. to change the station on the radio it took about 6-steps.

it was a great thought, but needed plenty refining...the idea of a one knob integrated system seems perfect, but as we learned, it was difficult for more than probably half the owners

as far as the X6 being copied, i doubt it will pick up...we have to wait and see the following it gets. how will it be priced to the X5, because if it is within range...i don't seen anyone passing up the X5 for this creature

I like the Idrive. My fiancee who is not the most computer literate person, figured it out on our BMW's in 10 minutes. I think a Blackberry phone or treo takes more time to figure out. I own 2 BMW's, 2006 330xi and 2008 535i. I wont get another BMW unless it has some sort of Idrive system on it. That is the only arguement anyone has to not buy a BMW. idiots .....

In regards to the X6, it is an awesome vehicle in person. You want to make comments to the Aztek, huh? What about the shield look to the MDX? Are you saying the fugly acura MDX is better looking? Or how bout the LX570? HOw is that truck beautiful looking? It amazes me, to how many wanabee's on this site are so critical, yet could never afford what they speak of....

the MDX is a very good-looking vehicle...the grill is a shield of some sort, but it fits with the front. Acura did a great job on the second gen of the MDX.

and i think you should reapply yourself when calling out names, you don't have any position to do so...and no one cares how much money you have. enjoy your BMW and be content with it...simply done, is it shocking people have different tastes than yourself?

How is toyota doing in europe? last I heard there sales for Lexus is down. Oh wait they have been over there for awhile now.

Stealing designs .. then why is the side profile of the beloved LS430 an exact carbon copy of the much maligned, according to autospies posters who apparently are the voice of the entire buying market segment, BMW 7-series?

Have you opened the hood of your beloved Lexus adn what does it say? Toyota ... enough said.

You want to bring up marketing. Lexus is the king at marketing to the lazy masses. aka self parking for one. What is the average age for a Lexus buyer? Didnt consumer reports or someone say that it is 60!!

better yet.. when is the last time Lexus/toyota won any engine of the year award? How bout some performance enhancing breakthrough that will help people actively avoid an accident? Oh wait I know, when you happen to oversteer the Lexus Rx350 or 400h trying to swerve to aviod an object, the power steering kicks out and the car beeps at you. It is the hardest and most unsafe vehicle to drive if you ever had to swerve around an object in the road. Try it?
