Damn, I wish I could join the military and just give me a machinegun, grenade launcher and helicopter and I would make sure that race would go on schedule.

;-)

Dont look at me.... I didnt do it! lol

"The Spies have just been informed that this year's 2008 Dakar Rally has been cancelled due to security threats from he North African wing of al Qaeda."

The thing that bothers me the most is that all these terrorist groups are always related some how to al Qaeda... wtf?! In Europe, America, Asia, Africa, cant wait until one shows up in Antarctica! If they were this huge, they should be taking over the world. lol.

and yes, I hate them too.

Al Qaeda are a bunch of mindless drones that listen to Faith twisted Muslim extremist leaders. Total waste of space and time. It is truly frustrating that they cannot just have civil protesting instead of killing helpless unarmed civilians.

Its better that they stop the rally then have a whole bunch of the cars and drivers blown up. Next year the rally will go on, but for now this seems like the best course of action.

Actually Agent001, I checked the news, and it said a "terrorist group" but everything that includes terrorists are linked to al Qaeda I suppose?

I found out about this over 72 hours ago and there was no mention of Al-Qaeda.

I actually watched the official Confrence in which the Race-Teams were informed as i was about to fall asleep and all they were told was that "the security of the Race could not be 100% guaranteed by the Host Countries and in light of the current Political Climate and threats that the safety of all the teams was of no 1 priority for the Organisers and hence they had no option but to cancell the 2008 Rally".

So how Al-Qaeda suddenly gets involved when the story reached the USA i do not understand.

I watched the confrence on SKY but will try to find it on You-Tube for you guys.

By JAMEY KEATEN Associated Press Writer
PARIS Jan 4, 2008 (AP)

Share The Dakar Rally, the epic motorcycle, car and truck race across the Sahara desert, was canceled Friday by organizers citing "direct" threats of terrorism from al-Qaida-linked militants.

The race was deemed too inviting and too easy a target for the terror group's new north African affiliate. The roughly 550 competitors were to have embarked Saturday on the 16-day, 5,760-mile trek through remote and hostile dunes and scrub from Europe to Senegal in west Africa.
"The threat is significant," Anderes said. "It would be almost impossible to secure the entire course." He said the race is particularly vulnerable because it crosses different countries and large, unpopulated areas.
"When you are told of direct threats against the event and when the sinister name of al-Qaida is mentioned, you don't ask for details," Patrice Clerc, who heads the company that organizes the rally, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "It was enough for me to hear my government say 'beware, the danger is at a maximum.'"

Ok, calculate all those numbers for me, and then compare them to how many people were killing in Iraq and Afghanistan after America went in. Should be an interesting comparison.

There are Christians in those messed up countries too that are great people. Why would Qaeda want to imigrate to the axis of evil? Ironically there hep -B is way higher than the axis of evil because of there imoral lifestyle, very hypocritical! These are the same men that blame the women for being rapped.Muslims have a huge population! And thankfully the majority are not terrorists, The majority of terrorits are uneducated just like all the gangsters in North America. Then again who has killed more?

I was born and raised in the UK and I currently live in the UK.

A few things i will tell you is that the sources you quoted are the MOST DUBIOUS you could have selected.

The head of the MI5 is just a spokesperson for the Government and those "Headline Grabbing Claims" are usually made less than 24hrs before the British Government is to introduce some Liberty or Privacy Reduction Laws, In every case within the last 3 years that has been the case, the last claim about 2,000 suspected terrorists was met with derision by the UK Press, thats how much the British Distrust MI5 / MI6.

Anyone Quoting the Bible as a cornerstone of his argument on Etnic Disagreements is a MADMAN and should be sectioned as anyone who uses the Koran for same Arguments

Finally did it ever occur to you that the Intelligence Agencies have a vested interest in talking up the terrorist threats in order to keep them {Intelligence Agencies} at the center of attention and thus justify the Massive Budget Increases they request every year ?

You might be brilliant at Math but your ability to wholeheartedly absorb any information you are fed also prevents you from logically questioning the validity of such information.

London Bombings happened because of the UK involvement in Iraq, Same as Madrid. Spanish Opposition Declared they would pull out of Iraq and then proceeded to win a Landslide Victory (Which shows the population did not want to be involved in the Invasion in the first place, but were ignored by their government) No bombings since.

UK Bombings were serious and the reasons stated for the attack were very clear, I do not agree to people killing innocent civilians in order to make a point but i also detest Politicians that refuse to admit that Foreign Interference in regions that they have no business in can and will cause reprisals at home (UK).

There are MADMEN on all sides brainwashing the public into thinking that anybody who has a different skin colour or religion is intent on wiping us out.

George Bush & Co:(They want to Destroy our way of Life)
Osama Bed Linen (They are Morally Bankrupt Infidels)

The list is quite substanstial but there will be less ammunition for the recruiters if the Western Countries did not do so many things that are to the detriment of the people of said countries just so you can enjoy cheap crude.

All Humans (Even Animals) will rebel after a sustained period of discomfort.

Oh WOW

The Blessed, GOD Fearing Europeans.

The same Plundering, Raping, Genocidal Colonialists ?

I can see the devout attention to following GOD's Laws as they Massacared the Native Indians or Enslaved Aficans, Im sure it is allowed somewhere in the Bible.

I do not deny the fact that there is a lot we Humans do not understand and probably will never comprehend as there is a Greater Entity out there but how the Bible is somehow the Official User's Manual to the World is beyond my understanding.

You see my father was a Marine Geophysicist and one of the basic instintcs i was given was "Never Fail To Fully Question" any topic or text you are given or come across.

Only after complete scrutiny should people be assured that there might be some truth to it and the Bible relies heavily on Blind Faith (Just Believe, Don't Think) Doctrine.

I would have thought the Mass Migration of people is a testament to Capitalism and nothing else.

Speaking of 40 years, maybe you forgot that at different times on our short history on the planet different Races and Regions had Technological Superiority when compared to the West.

Prove that Al Qaeda had anything to do with 9/11 please. Usama bin Laden himself denied him having anything to do with it. Too bad people like you cant admit that it was the US' excuse to invade afghanistan just to get rid of "Taliban" who actually managed to stop all the drugs industry the US gets huge amounts of money from.

Being a civil engineer, I can assure you that with enough force and heat (by an airplane) the steel in the twin towers should actually bend, causing the upper part of the building to fall sideways. The bulding fell inwards!

Oh and also, did you know MidEngine that when Spain was ruled by muslims, it was the most advanced country in Europe. It had more Libraries than the whole of Europe and it was the 1st lighted city too. The rest of Europe were in what they like calling "dark ages" to make themselves feel secure.

After that civilisation passed from Spain to the rest of Europe.

I was never defending Al qaeda, but it isnt fair if you blame them on every fire you have in your kitchen either! Yes, they hijacked the planes, and flew them right into the twin towers, but was the US goverment unaware of all of this? You would be very naive if you think so. They knew, didnt wanna stop it, used it as an excuse to invade Afghanistan. A simple investigation would prove my point.

Muslims now arent really advanced in anything like they used to be. At that time, muslims were leading in science, technology, everything! Guess where every European scientist would go to get education? Yes, thats right, Spain. Just compare Europe and Spain at that time to see the HUGE difference.
