Edmunds InsideLine Editors choose Audi S5 and R8 for their most wanted list

So, it is no surprise that Audi's fabulous S5 and downright incredible R8 were chosen by Edmunds InsideLine Editors as two of their most wanted cars.

The S5 combines exterior sex appeal, with a brilliant interior and a burly V8 that provides very good acceleration. The car forces people to look due to its tight-cut shape and lines.

Audi's S5 serves as an incredible launching pad for the forthcoming RS5 which should be one heck of a ride.

Furthermore, the Audi R8 was chosen as an instant classic by the Edmunds InsideLine Editors. This comes as a suprise to no one as the R8 has been constantly praised all across the automotive world for its ability to combine so much into one package. The R8 has the exotic, attention-grabbing, exterior looks of a Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Gallardo and the top-notch modern interior that has become an Audi hallmark.

The R8 has the RS4's 420 horsepower V8 engine. The engine is placed in the middle of the car behind the driver and passenger. The R8's mid-engine layout creates incredible handling and excellent balance. The chassis is brilliant and constantly wants to rev up to its 8,250 rpm redline. Add Quattro AWD and you have grip and confidence that will make even the most novice drivers feels like Michael Schumacher.

Most importantly, the Audi R8 is as easy and comfortable to to drive as a Mercedes S-class through rush hour traffic, but it can transform itself into a sportscar that provides handling, balance, acceleration, and feedback reserved only for sportscars such as the iconic Porsche 911.

Congratulations to Audi for such an amazing showing.

Please see the other cars that were included in this list as well.

Can you blame them... both are stunning cars inside and out. And you can go wrong with the proven 4.2 V8 powerplant and Quattro AWD. Audi is definetly going to make its mark on the U.S. market in 08-09 with thier entire new lineup of cars; specifically the R8, S5, TT and A4. All winners!

True ^^ Audi is pointing itself in the right direction! I can only assume it will grab market share.

Congrats to Audi. They are definitely moving in the right direction. If they can gain bigger market shares in the US, they will be right up there with MB and BMW in terms of global sales.

Well, technically, they are... they're #3. Within a few hundred thousand of Merc.

nowhere on that site does edmunds say anything about audi releasing the rs5. it also doesn't say anything about the r8 capturing the exotic look of a ferrari.

are you sure you're quoting from the right site?

The R8 is unquestionably a looker, but it seems like any other hot new vehicle dealers are also charging a premium over MSRP. It may be worth the price to some, not to others.

The R8's fresh looks does make the 911 Turbo look slightly dated. But, would I pay extra for the R8 knowing that my Porsche dealer is willing to give me a 911 Turbo for MSRP, or slightly less? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
