Reuters has just reported BMW has sold 1,500,678 cars this, year. 1,276,793 BMW, 222,875 Mini, and 1,010 Rolls Royce, up 9.2% from last year. See BMW does not have to wait until 2015 to sell 1.5 million car they have accomplished that goal, a year early.

Larry's comment is clearly biased and incorrect. BMW group includes BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce. As a group, which includes all three brand combined the total was 1.5 million cars.

However, sales of the BMW brand, which is only cars with the BMW white and blue roundel on them were at 1.29 million cars.

yeah, and you better watch out for them. I mean, if you had a BMW of your own you'd be able to dodge the broken down cars all over the place, drift in and out, slalom right through them. Unfortunately your Lexus doesn't handle well enough to allow you to enjoy such things.

but hey, at least your car did have 0.5 fewer problems over three years than a BMW. Definitely a worthwhile tradeoff.

more comments from the ignorant. i hardly ever see ANY car on the side of the road, let alone a mercedes or bmw. all new cars today are INCREDIBLY reliable. compare to years ago, the variance from the top to bottom is very small.

Actually, that's incorrect. The Lexus GS is less reliable than the BMW 5 Series as well as the Audi A6.

S4 I stand corrected. I was using the brand as a whole figure from an article on here in 2007. Nice to know the GS is actually less reliable than the 5 and A6.

s4, can you actually DOCUMENT this?

from the CR Frequency of repair charts, the only black marks on GSs are for body hardware on the '06, and paint/trim on the '02. a grand total of TWO (2) half-blacks over FIVE model years. (insufficient data for one year)

in contrast bmw 5s have SEVEN 1/2 black marks, and SEVEN FULL black marks over 6 model years.

a6s have THIRTEEN 1/2 blacks, and FIFTEEN FULL blacks! (almost as bad as VWs, of which there are few if any less reliable models.)

further, in sharp contrast to the MINOR body problems of the GS, the a6 and 5 have far more SERIOUS problems! from the audio and power systems right up to and including ENGINE problems.

if you can provide actual proof that the GS is less reliable, i'd like to see it. otherwise your claim is backasswards on reliability and total BS.

Maybe try actually reading CR? The A6 and 5--for this year--are recommended due to improved reliability (the A6 has actually moved to "above average" with some engines), and the GS can no longer be recommended because the AWD models are "below average."

06GS300 HAVE OWNED 2 BMW'S(530i & 550i) AND BOTH HAVE DRIVEN GREAT. READ IN AUTOMOBILE MAG THAT LEXUS HAS SERVICE CALLS EVERY ~5,000 MILES, LABOR NOT INCLUDED. DOES GS USE SAME TOYOTA V6 WITH SLUDGE PROBLEMS? RELAX, THNKING OF GETTING AUDI SA5. GREAT INTERIOR AND A TRUE "COUPE."
