Well I was not sure about the Mustang but it makes sense. This is a Secret Gov't Division that has to remain on the down low so being US Gov't should use US made car as well as a car that is common to blend in. Of course KITT has allot of bells and whistles. Wonder if KITT still has a solid rear axle? =)

As for the Fan Boys above. A Ferrari or Porsche are great cars but creates to much attention. Try to go undercover in a bright yellow CGT! LOL Use your brains!

KITT by all means is a Pontiac and Firebird! The Mustang is just too ordinary looking whereas the Firebird is out of the ordinary and very mysterious looking! This series should have introduced a new generation Pontiac Firebird and shame on GM for not capitalizing on the opportunity.

Will Arnett? That makes this movie even harder to swallow.

From what I read, GM hasn't wanted anything to do with Knight Rider since the 2nd season of the original series. If you remember, they never referred to KITT as a Firebird after the 1st season. Since there is not current Firebird out there, producers had to look for another car. If you look closely, this is actually not a Shelby GT500KR, but a reskinned GT. You can tell by the guages in the trailer. GT500KRs will be too rare to waist in a movie when a rebadeged one will due just fine for image purposes.

Why do you guys have such a problem with American cars. Are you so treatened by some American mussle? As a proud '06 Mustang GT vert owner, its a great car. The current Mustang has received nothing but rave reviews across the board. I'd like to see Japan or Europe put that kind of power in a car at that price point. They can't. And just so you know, my wife drives an Audi. I'm not some anit European car guy. Just anti Janapneese because all they do is try to be European.
