Autosport Show: Volkswagen unveils Jetta TSI

Volkswagen unveiled today at the Autosport International racing car show the new Jetta TSI Sport. New Jetta TSI features an engine-driven supercharger and an exhaust gas powered turbocharger, arranged in series; the supercharger operates at lower engine speeds and the turbo cuts in as revs rise. The result is excellent driveability and performance throughout the rev range, with no turbo lag and high maximum torque. Due to this fact the power unit was named Best New Engine of 2006 in the International Engine of the Year Awards.

Yeah TSI is pretty good for a gas guzzler, but it still don't come close to TDI, which is engineered for real drivers; not race car drivers.

I can get over 40 mpg driving on a fuel made 100% from vegetable oil without sacrificing performance in my Jetta TDI. With the upcoming Jetta TDI, it will outperform the standard gasser; will be better for the environment than the standard gasser; and it will raise the fuel economy advantage to almost 75% over the standard gasser. All of this, and the upcoming TDI will still be able to run on a fuel made 100% from vegetable oil, so why would anyone care about a faster Volkswagen that cost as much to build as their diesel but gets average fuel economy and requires premium fuel with no chance to use alternative fuel.

You seem to forget that in allot of country's you have to pay allot more road taxes on diesels. Not to mention the fact that they are allot more expensive to buy. So you have to drive atleast a certain amount a year to break even with the costs.
