One of our readers 'SPIES' the Official BMW 1-Series order guide for you!

The Spies predict the new BMW 1-Series will have a lot of competitors nervous at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.

First deliveries are just a few months away and our friend J. Lau was kind enough to send us the official BMW 1-Series dealer order guide, for all of you to peruse.

Thanks!

Interesting, this informaiton has been out for quite a long time. Even the BMW configuration tool has been up for almost 2 months.

The unladen weight is 3373 - manual transmission and 3384 - auto transmission. That informaiton is old and the document is bad. The best website for information about the 1er is www.1addicts.com. There are so many people out there that know about this car across the world.

To "who that must not be named": Get a clue. All you are doing is stirring up arguments. Be informed before you make comments. Do research. There already have been reviews on this car and even the biggest BMW basher, Jeremy Clarkson, loves this car and gave it 5 stars. The biggest thing for me is that it reminds me of my first BMW: a 1989 325is. Tossabe, powerful, more upright seating and easily tunable.

You're certainly living up to your name guffwave. The 3 and 5 series are the best selling cars in their class and the 6-series is anything but a failure, it has been a sales success for BMW after the poor sales of the 8-series. Your comment makes no sense, but then agin your probably just trolling anyway, no-one legitimate could be that stupid!

guffwave, you're crazy.

The 6-Series is a success and you know it.

guffwave :
if you talking about how good the car is, audi might be getting really close to bmw already, or in some way, even better.
but if you talking about success, audi is far behind bmw. just look at the sales number.

guffwave, you make me embarrassed to be an Audi fan.

I have had four Audis--an A6 2.7T (2000-2005), A4 1.8T bought used for my son (it was a '98, owned from 2002-2006), S4 Cabriolet (2005-present) and an A3 2.0T DSG (2006-present). All have been fabulous, and I especially love both my S4 and A3.

Over this time, my wife has had two Lexuses--an RX300 and an RX330. Over a month ago, we traded the '04 RX330 in for a 2008 BMW X5 4.8i. It is an incredible car, and I can say with the utmost confidence that it is faster, better-looking and more fun to drive than the Q7. Obviously, it would be hard for the Q7 (which is ten inches longer) to come close, but we didn't even test drive it, because we didn't need the space.

The point of this is, you can be a diehard Audi fanboy like me without hating BMW. They are both amazing brands, both are on the rise, both are hugely profitable. They are in fact very similar... the only notable difference is AWD vs. RWD. I enjoy having both in my garage.

"Hitler got 2000 years, I thought it was a little harsh, even for what he did..."

That statement alone allow me to say Guff is mentally challenged $hit disturber. We all have a right to our opinions as long as it does not have intent to offend people.

By the way guff. I like Audi but what happened last December sales wise???

So guff also explain how BMW out sells Audi 10 to 1? I am not knocking Audi. I owned a good S4 but I can't stand people that make up things to just be annoying. Use facts.

that's US sales for Audi against worldwide sales for BMW. Hardly a valid comparison.

Audi sold just under 1 million cars worldwide, and BMW sold a bit under 1.3 million. Not a massive difference.

My point is that you are saying BMW is a failure. Back up your claims. Failure = low sales. I am waiting.

Guffaw: Either-

A: You are insane.
B: You have no adult supervision.
C: Your Lithium supply ran out.
D: All of the Above.

I'm thinking "D"-

LOL..I thought so guff. Good comeback. In 2007 BMW out sells Audi. MB out sold BMW. I am asking a simple question. Back up your claims. I back up everything I state. How is BMW a failure?

i would choose a 3 series over the other two...and I do like the C and A4 as well but they don't have as good steering feel, handling, braking, and power.

So what's your reason? (style is subjective) u can't use it...

JRobUSCJRobUSC - 1/10/2008 2:51:57 PM

Mercedes didn't outsell BMW in 2007, worldwide BMW was the #1 luxury brand. Mercedes sold 1.29 million vehicles, BMW sold 1.5 million. Mercedes brand vehicles sold 1.19 million, BMW sold 1.39 million. Mercedes was up 2.0% for 2007, BMW was up 8.1%.

Never mind Guff. I guess BMW a perennial 10 best and majority of auto mag experts stating the BMW as a benchmark just is not enough for some people..lol.

Anyways the 1 series may cut into 3 series sales thus the price points will not be a wide margin and market it to younger drivers that do not need much space.

Another reason is to help with over all BMW MPG ratings. Having a line of smaller cars using fewer will help in that area.

JRobUSC.

MB outsold BMW in 2007. They out sold BMW cars only not BMWs entire line of cars (Mini, RR, Maybach, etc). Capice'?

Based on articles:

MB Brand - 1.29 Mil
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080108111121.userjbuu&show_article=1

BMW Brand - 1.27 Mil
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/01/09/business/EU-FIN-COM-Germany-BMW-Sales.php

http://www.boston.com/news/world/europe/articles/2008/01/09/bmw_2007_auto_sales_rose_92_percent/

Not a big margin. Not sure were you got the 1.39Mil figure for BMW.
