Detroit Auto Show: Mazda Furai Concept - RENESIS on overload (live images)

Detroit Auto Show. The Mazda Furai, which stands for ’sound of the wind’ in Japanese, runs on 100% ethanol and is built in partnership with British Petroleum.

The Mazda Furai’s design language is inspired by the Nagare with an America Le Mans Series racing car influence. Using a Courage C65 chassis the car is powered by a three-rotor rotary engine that produces 450 horsepower. You can check out the video of the Furai’s power in action by clicking here.

Mazda has not said anything about any future production possibilities for the Furai, but in the press release Mazda says that the Furai ’probes future design possibilities’ and ’also ventures ahead with alternative renewable fuels.’

I certainly wouldn't bet money on that statement.

Mazda has been successful at NOT playing by the rules for quite some time now, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see many of the design elements present here appear in their lineup in the very near future...

BTW, I DON'T AGREE with your thinking that, "it has nothing to do with any car that anyone in the USA will ever drive on the streets", and apparently neither do you, as you even went on to express, "There will no doubt be cars that will show some superficial similarities to this", which IS saying that this design WILL influence future Mazda efforts.

Question:

Are you so bent on contradicting the posts of others, that you just type any (long drawn-out) rambling that pops into your head, whether it makes sense or not?

Looks like it came from a cool anime movie. And not batman, but from those futuristic japanese anime movies.Unbelievably cool, one of the coolest car design i have seen in last couple of years along with only Lamborghini Reventón
