Detroit Auto Show: Land Rover LRX Concept - it’s small and it’s green
Land Rover showed their much anticipated three-door compact SUV concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. The Land Rover LRX Concept is said to be a cross coupe that will fit under the Freelander 2 / LR2.

“The LRX concept delivers the powerful message that we are as serious about sustainability as we are confident about the continuing relevance and desirability of our vehicles,” says Phil Popham, Land Rover’s managing director. “LRX is in every respect a Land Rover, but it’s a very different Land Rover.

We can definitely expect the LRX to enter production before the end of the decade offering a fuel-efficient power management system. The LRX concept embodies the power management systems and other technologies first shown by Land Rover in the Land_e concept in 2006.

The production version of this will probably look as much like this concept as the Range Rover Sport did to the Range Rover Stormer Concept... Not At All!

The real question is, how light is this thing (?), because that where LR fails miserably with all of their offerings.

Agreed, weight is the issue. Making LR's lighter will only make them more expensive at that.

My 2007 civic could follow this car almost anywhere! I find it annoying to hear people say off road ability with cars like this! Whenever I go hunting or 4x4ing none of these princesses could follow me in my 93 4runner! And that is a princess too! Although it will out wheel almost anything today including H-2 and H-3! Could you see trying to drive this car through a few feet of mud and water? I didn't think so.Nice car though

If you are going to deboost me at least defend this pavement princess and explain why with your infinate wisdom why you disagree. My civic could have driven all of this too! Maybe we should start putting stickers on the civic and put all wheel drive on it! Look out Hummer H-1! LOL
