Audi Set 2007 Sales Records In All Regions

AUDI AG: New sales records in all regions in 2007

• 964,151 vehicles sold worldwide; a gain of 6.5 percent
• All-time highs in more than 50 markets
• Record market share in Germany
• Audi CEO Rupert Stadler: “Audi will break through the one million cars sales barrier for the first time in our history”

2007 was AUDI AG’s twelfth record year in a row worldwide. From January through December, 964,151 cars were handed over to customers – 6.5 percent more than in 2006 (905,188). Audi posted growth in sales in every region. The brand with the four rings chalked up records in more than 50 markets.

“The outstanding sales figures for 2007 are an important step on the path to reaching our ambitious corporate goals. We were able to grow in all sales regions and we will continue to maintain our fast pace in 2008,” says Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG.

“Our growth in China is particularly remarkable: we’re the first premium carmaker to sell more than 100,000 cars here,” stresses Ralph Weyler, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Marketing and Sales. “We were able to further develop our position as a premium brand in growth markets as well as in the saturated markets of Europe and the US.”

In Europe (including Germany), Audi delivered 686,480 cars during 2007, or 4.3 percent more than the previous year (2006: 658,463). Great Britain was the biggest European export market for Audi: the premium brand from Ingolstadt increased its sales here by 17.1 percent to 100,712 cars.

In America, Audi gained 4.5 percent for the year as a whole, with 115,629 cars sold (2006: 110,626). Of this number, 93,506 cars were sold in the US, a gain of 3.8 percent (2006: 90,116). In the Asia-Pacific region, Audi was able to increase sales by 20.5 percent to 134,176 cars. China (including Hong Kong) was the biggest export market in 2007 for the company from Ingolstadt. From January to December, Audi sold 101,996 cars here – 24.8 percent more than during the previous year (2006: 81,708).

The region of Africa and the Near and Middle East also developed into an important growth region. Sales figures grew here by 12.8 percent to 27,866 vehicles sold (2006: 24,712). Sales in the Middle East alone rose by 38.2 percent to 6,380 cars (2006: 4,616).

In its home market, the brand with the four rings sold 254,014 cars (down 1.5 percent; 2006: 257,792). Market share in Germany grew from 7.6 percent to 7.9 percent when compared with the previous year; Audi thus achieved the highest share in domestic competition in the company’s history. On December 7, German dealers began selling the highly anticipated Audi A4 sedan, which has already won numerous comparison tests and awards since premiering at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The new generation of the highest-volume Audi model promises to provide the Ingolstadt-based company with strong momentum in the new year.

AUDI AG will present the complete results for the 2007 business year at its Annual Press Conference on March 11, 2008 in Ingolstadt.

Good for them. I dont own an audi, i have a BMW, but I do really like audi. The twin turbo engine won me over audi. I hope they do well

I added to that number in may of last year with a Q7. I'm not surprised they've grown.

Great job Audi. This is not really surprising considering the direction they have gone during the past 5 years. Can't wait for the next A4.

I want whatever this guy is smoking! Without the Q7 Audi sales were way down for 2007 in the US. Audi car sales were down 7302 units from 2006. In the US Audi sales are on a roll all right, down hill. In the US the ONLY luxury brand that Audi outsold was Jaguar! Audi is doing better elsewhere but the US continues to elude Audi.

What's the point you're trying to make, hater? Where do you think Lexisbwould be without the RX? Infiniti without the G? BMW without the 3? Do you realy think Audi is the only brand with a bread-and-butter model?

Like it or not, Audi sales went up this year. And they will go up next year, and the year after that, and the year after that...

It is an interesting point he brings up, seeing as people always want to seem to take away Lexus's sales of the ES and RX because they are on a Camry chassis, for example.

Why do people insist on taking away sales of a particular model to prove an already non-existant point?

Excellent, but I'm not surprised.

The parallels between Audi and BMW, as companies, are uncanny.

The point is Audi did not have the Q7 in much of 2006. Without the new model Audi would have been way down. Every Audi carline was down in 2007 except the TT. Audi sold 72,811 cars in 2007, BMW sold 230,535, MBZ 178,819, Lexus 200,334, Infiniti 93,717. Audi never has recovered from that stupid phony unintended acceleration of the 80's. I like Audi but please do not tell me how great it is doing. I know Audi dealers pressured to build new dealerships becuase of this big increase of sales coming. Sales have not increased by carline and some dealers are having a hard time making money.

What terrific news for Audi.

Their 12th consecutive year of record sales has officially been recorded.

Profits are soaring, the Q7 might be built in the U.S. The R8 V12 TDI concept might become reality and put Audi at the forefront of diesel technology.

The new models will continue into 2008 with the Q5 being released as well as the R8 with V10.

I look forward to the Q3 soon after as well as the A7.

Audi will break the 1 million sales globally in 2008 and it will officially make Audi one of the three premium car manufacturers over 1 million units sold worldwide.

Larry, don't get too excited. Audi just doubled Mercedes' growth rate with their 6.5% increase from 2006.

Mercedes is struggling to increase sales as rapidly as Audi and Mercedes will only be a mere 200,000 sales ahead of Audi in 2008.

amazinIdiot, you fail to realize that Audi (and also BMW) might be outsold by Mercedes by a huge margin in the ultra-high end class (S-class, SL, CL models), but both Audi and BMW have a significant advantage when it comes to lower end models such as the 3-series, A4 and 5-series and A6 compared to the Mercedes' crappy C-class and E-class (which is outsold by Audi's A6).

More people can afford the lower-end models than the high end models. That is why for all three brand their entry level cars (3-series, A4 and C-class) are their biggest sellers.

Furthermore, Audi doesn't have anywhere near the number of different models as Mercedes. Audi is gaining such rapid ground with such a small product portfolio.

Add Audi's huge model expansion which will include the affordable Q5 SUV, A1, and high-end A7 and R8 lines and you have yourself a car company ready to dethrone Mercedes within 5 years in terms of sales.

Mercedes' quality and failed merger with Diamler cost it big-time and now they are paying by fighting with everything they have for their second place spot in terms of worldwide sales.

Audi is on an impressive winning streak.
