If you still don't believe Toyota and Lexus are serious about design, you'd better read this

About a year ago, Denny Clements (Lexus GM) stated that there was a new commitment to design and that we would finally see world class products with two years.

A lot of people thought it was just words but we told you, they would deliver.

And the automotive world should be scared...very scared.

Well, based on what we're seeing from the last few concepts, we retract our statements.

What we should have said it the automotive world should be PETRIFIED!

The recent intro of the Lexus LF-A and Toyota FT-SX should send shivers up the spine of their competitors.

Take a close look at the FT-SX crossover and you'll see what we mean.

Remember, this is only a Toyota! Imagine what the Lexus stuff will look like!

We are extremly impressed with the direction they are taking and believe (based on their previous record)they will execute flawlessly.

Great job!

Come on...you make Lexus sound like the 2nd comming of Jesus Christ. To say everyone should be petrified !! by what...Japanese design. If it's one criticism I have about the current design of Lexus is that it looks typical Japanese ! Which is smooth flowing curves with a few angles thrown in here and there. All of which excites me like a shot of local anesthesia. To say they are gonna send Bently running with their tails between their legs is almost sacreligeous. Bently is all about craftmanship that took years to develop. A $100,000 car built by a damn robot does not impress me ! I will spend the extra $75,000 for a hand built Bently. Thanks...save the Lexus space ships for the men in black suits !

Well the lexus and toyota concepts are not bad but they're concepts and are never like that when its in production. Most Toyotas in the Asian market are more luxury and have a better design than N. America so nothing surprising here. I still believe the qualities, technologies and handling of Audi, Mercedes and BMW are better than those of Lexus. Just sit inside a Lexus and look closer and feel it, its still very plastic but just better than Toyotas or Nissans. Audi's have superior interior design their materials are just amazing, as for BMW their interior design suck but their performance is outstanding. Lexus is like a luxury car for the masses but Mercedes, Audi, and BMW are luxury car for the people who have class and wealth. Look at the MTV's do you see lexus in those videos?

To the guy (Will) who calls me a typical Lexus hater...for your info I drive a 99 ES 300. I drive it every day to work and it is very reliable...so so comfortable...but damn boring ! Which is why I holding out for the SVT Mustang as a second car. There aren't too many cars that I hate...I just don't believe in all the brand hype that so many of you take to heart. I look at the individual vehicle and not necessarily where it came from.

Including Toyota, can make a futuristic looking car. It is a concept. What consumers really car about, other than clever marketing exercises, is production models. THAT is where Toyota fails.

Check out the Tokyo Motor Show. Its full of way -out - there - styling, they still look stupid, but it shows any car company can launch a futuristic concept. Even Toyota.

Toyota!

Moving Forward.

I may need to see the FT-SX in person before deciding to purchase it. But I am liking it more and more.
