I don't know what the performance is like, I'm sure its reasonable. But looks wise I think it is very similar to the DTM race cars of this class in Germany. Lowered, with big functional adjustable wing, pronounced fender flares and big racing rubber.

Are we looking at the same pictures? What is wrong with the look of this IS-F race car? I don't get some of these comments....???

Even if that is true, it shouldn't be. After owning an RX300, an RX330 and now an X5, BMW produces a much higher-quality vehicle in every respect.

The RX also has historically been more reliable than any BMW.

Okay, well, so far:

1. RX300- frozen speedometer in fourth year of ownership

2. RX330- rubber door guard came off

3. 2008 X5- none

4. Friend's 2003 X5- none

5. Friend's 2007 X5- none

Well, to put it simply, I don't personally care about what the statistics say. Since I have owned two of the Lexuses, a friend has had two of the BMWs and now I have a BMW, my personal experience says that the BMW is better. Reliability is the RX's only calling, since the X5 offers a much better interior, more features, better style, more room, more performance and more customization. Now, for me, BMW has reliability covered; even if it didn't, they would still have free maintenance and the "red carpet" service.

What's red carpet? Even when I need a routine check-up, the dealer will swing by my house, take the X5 and leave a 3 Series, 5 Series or another X5 in its place. I don't even have to do anything.

We must thank S4cab, for he only relentlessly proves the very important point that we all buy the cars we do because they are the best TO US, and not to everyone. Clearly, the X5 is the best choice for him, including all the subjective analysis points on style, etc. I never get personal to prove a point, but I will here: my sister has had an RX for over 5 years now and it has never had a single problem. There is always data readily available to support just about any point you could possibly ever want to make.

these people seem to think that if they read "free service", they are actually getting something for free..

they probably make up for it with PRICE or with options that are not standard..or with a lame navigation system

if you can afford to have any of these cars, why would you sweat such a small amount?

Long term, Lexsus will become a power house. Backed by the deeper pockets then any other European car company.

Yeah, Take the engine cover off of the IS-f and you will swear that you are looking at a HYUNDAI Engine. Tubes and wires all over the place. It looks like a mess.

If I am not mistaken (probably am), Mitsubishi makes (or used to make) TV's, but they also contributed to the turbos for BMW....Again, I could be wrong, but with that thinking, the BMW's turbo setups are from a company who makes "nice TV's".... That thinking is flawed because BMW has a gem in the 3.0L twin turbo I-6's.....

Again, someone please (politely) correct me if I am wrong on the Mitsubishi part!

I had a 56" Mitsubishi TV in my old house... very good unit.

Yamaha makes a lot more than pianos, also, LOL. They (obviously) make bikes, and they even produce the engine for the Volvo XC90 V8.

mitsubishi also makes the engines under the hood of the Smart for Two.

mitsubishi also used to make the famed Zero fighter of ww2. and one of the best turboprop biz planes in more recent times.

i took an isf on the track 2day for 2 laps..exhaust sounds great..great traction..first time

yamaha used to build a great engine for the ford taurus, but that was back before most of you graduated to your cruisers.
when lexus has clubs that buy track days they will get some cred as performance brand.
i do like the alms series. at least it is not the same 43 chassis racing as something with it is not.

This is the ugliest car in the world. The normal IS-F is very nice though.

That Lexus is really a 2004 Opel Vectra DTM race car( think Saturn Aura/Chevy Malibu). It has been rebadged and rebodied as a Lexus. Even the engine is a GM Opel v-6.
