Daimler to put Maybach 62S Landaulet into production

We got our first ‘real-life’ look at the Maybach 62 S Landaulet concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show last week. And if you are one of those that can afford a Maybach you may be excited to learn that Daimler AG has decided to make the 62S Landaulet concept a reality.

Speaking with German newspaper, Stuttgarter Zeitung, Klaus Mair, head of Mercedes-Benz Cars marketing, said that the car is now set to go into serial production.

UGLY Car... other day I saw a car coming and thought.. OH is that a new Hyundai, not sure which model... OH!! WAIT.. it is a MAYBACH.... And they wonder why a RR outsells the Maybach.

Maybach will now offer something that no other ultraluxury sedan offers. It should attract some buyers, how many and if it will be enough to make a big difference is yet to be seen.

For this price you could get a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead, Bentley Continental GT Speed, Audi R8, Mercedes-Benz S600, Ferrari F430 Spyder, BMW X5 4.8i and a Porsche GT3.

Unfortunately there seems to be quite a few people out there who are so phenomenally wealthy that this is just a drop in their Tax-WriteOffs so im sure MB will be able to sell a couple Hundred of them.

One other point. You will notice a special room in above the normal MB Dealerships that are just for Maybach buyers. Friggin nice! $$$ does not buy happiness but it sure helps!

Why do I feel like this car wants to take us back to the days of robber barons or fascist dictators. The whole thing just makes my makes my skin crawl. (Now if it were a Continental Flying Spur with this landaulet feature, maybe I would feel different....)

Does the front look like a Toyota Crown.. How would it feel to spend all that money for it to look like a Toyota.. BTW, The Crown has been out in Japan for ages... so no copying there..
