Dodge Challenger SRT8 Photos Leak Out

Wake up, muscle-car nation: Here is a clear look at the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, the fourth and final installation of the LX-platform that birthed the 300C, Magnum, Charger and their corresponding bad-boy models created by Chrysler LLC's skunkworks in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The reborn Challenger was seen originally in retro glory at the 2006 Detroit auto show, 38 years after its namesake's debut as a 1970 model. Dealers began taking orders in early December, priced at $37,995 ahead of spring deliveries; the first retail chassis fetched $400,000 on Jan. 19 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Arizona. Dodge plans to reveal the car Feb. 6 during the Chicago auto show.

Actually, I think the Camaro will outsell this car. Camaros have a huge following and I think, at least for the first few years, will sell really well.

I don't think this will slow Camaro sales mainly because the Camaro will have a base price thats much lower than the price of this car. The Pontiac GTO would've been perfect competition to this but since thats out of production, maybe a G8?

its clear this wont help Chrysler's woes right away, but this car is sweet, and perhaps they can piggyback some success off it with other models.

You'll see a lot of these new Dodge Challenger SRT8's driving the 22 mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway, aka. PCH from Liberal Santa Monica to Malibu. And you thought all the Hollywood Libs drove Prius'.

It is definitely a hot car, and will enjoy a lot of success. However, in order for Chrysler to get out of the slums, they need to put this much coolness and style into their smaller, more profitable models. How about a cool new PT Cruiser that borrows some of its looks from the 300? Or a new Caliber with more style like this? And why is Chrysler getting rid of the Magnum?

I want one and I'm not even a musclecar fan. This design puts other so-called "retro" designers (with the exception of the Mini) to shame. Real retro, real cool.

I predict the Challenger will be hot a very short period of time. How many buyers are there for a big, heavy fast coupe? I predict within a year of introduction the Challenger and Camaro will be selling slowly while having almost no effect on the Mustang. The Mustang is almost in a different class from the Challenger and Camaro, smaller, lighter and cheaper.
