The reason they increased prices is the same reason GM stated they will. Pricing of materials have risen and Toyota is trying to put a spin on it.

Whatever u all say. New Toyota Corolla looks very good and a vast improvment from the current model.

and here in Middle East, we don't get the 2.4 litre 4 cylinder engine in the corolla but the other, an all new 1.6 litre 4 cylinder producing 108 BHP.

Most of the Asia also get's the all new Diesel engine.

yeah sure. the previous generation corolla was so ugly they STILL were selling like hotcakes even tho' it was supposedly long in the tooth and people knew a new model was coming.

AND, it was gone over by the styling studio in ITALY where only minor refinements were needed to come up with the current comely sedan.

I think the Hyundai Elantra looks a lot better than this.

The corolla looks like a camry with a smashed face. The back is just ugly.

within its class, the corolla is the ONLY car that looks more like an upscale sedan than a boyracer compact. (esp. in profile.) OR low budget, price above looks econobox.

again, it's such a good basic design even the Italians didn't see a need for more than detail refinements.

toyota can raise its prices because people KNOW it is the leader in reliability, quality, and state-of-the-art drivetrains. people know quality costs, and accept that the prices are still good, for what they get.

note the relatively small price increases at ford, even with more expensive models. an $845 bump for a corolla SEEMS large. but not for quality of car.

i have an '03 corolla, and have gotten 40 mpg OVERALL. on trips, it comes down to the mid-thirties, 'cuz its hard for me to cruise slower than 70 mph.
mileage also came down when i swapped the stock for oversize tires, but the improved handling made it worth it.

the stock engine is still more than adequate. less than 2% of other drivers ever get from pt A to pt B before i do. (good handling and skilled driving more than compensates for brute power.) the few that do, burn up a lot more gas and brake pads in the process.

and i RARELY even call on the hot cam on the VVTi motor while doing all this.
