My brother had a 1987 Trooper II. That thing would tip on corners at 10mph. It was like a Range Rovre only worse. He ended up getting cut off but some guy from behind, the guys hood wedged under his rear bumper flipped him to his side, he slid across the lanes, hit the barrier wire and rolled down a hill stopped by a tree. He walked away with very minor road burn on his arm due to the window being open. Plastic surgeon did wonders, can't even tell he had an accident. The Isuzu V-cross was one of the coolest small SUV's ever made. I wish Isuzu had done better all around.

Chrysler is next in line, wake up one morning and the company will be sold off in pieces Jeep being the big prize, so save those Chrysler emblems in the future they may be worth more then the cars were?

Perhaps this will be Saab's eventual fate, seeing how the General has resorted to badge-engineering their vehicles as well.

A cautionary tell and interesting case study. The Vehicross, while not perfect, was a very forward thinking design. Same goes for the Axiom. Just wasn't enough to build and maintain momentum.

Will most likely concentrate on the Chinese market. I wonder why marketing was not maintained. Can't sell without marketing, probably the worst effort yet.

They used to be legendary - I remember seeing "Trooper" on the sides of SUV's since my childhood...but they just sank.

Yes, and they've really been "gone" for a while now. The re-badged GM's are not Isuzus...the real ones were last sold in the US maybe 3-5 years ago.

The Trooper was a good rig, although Isuzu makes its real money on Diesels. Most GM box trucks are re-badged Isuzus.

My first car was a '93 Trooper LS. What a great truck. It was large and had a lot of features for the money when you compare it to the competition of the time, Explorer and Grand Cherokee.

When I was in high school, my friend had a '91 Isuzu Stylus XS, it was extremely sporty and fast for its time. I don't think it was very reliable and it had the cheapest interior, but it was a fun little car. I don't know if that car was original or just a re-skinned Geo Storm GSi. Oh yeah, it had "handling by LOTUS" stamped on the side!

I had a 93' Rodeo LS fully loaded. For its time I loved that truck, never gave me one problem while I had it. Its 4x4 system was kinda archaic compared to todays powertrains but it got the job done. I've got a feeling somewhere along the line they'll be back.

Next up...Mitsubishi

Yeah, that's what I was hoping but unfortunately their new lineup will keep their head above water.

Hate to see they're pulling out. I hate to see any company go, if there's a chance that their slack will be picked up by toyota. There's WAY TOO MANY of those clogging the roads as it is.

Isuzu Axiom was nice, RWD 3.5 cross-over SUV, they didn't advertise it rite. Was ahead of its time, rite after the RX. Good examples of those, and most are, look brand new and different. I saw a clean white one the other day, nice.
