BMW Developing The Ultimate Electric Driving Machine?

Schmalholz agrees with comments made by the chief executive of General Motors, Rick Wagoner, at the Detroit motor show last week that electric cars will be a reality in the next five to 10 years. He says BMW is also working on an electric car but a decision on production is yet to be made.

"We will only bring this [electric car] if it makes sense," he says. "At the moment we are not really convinced it will work for BMW. But if it makes commercial sense and it makes sense to our customers, then we will do it."

Electric car>>> how i would love to go by a gas station and honk look at me people, i hope i can go further then the local gas staion before i have to charge up then the laugh is on me?

I beg to differ. Hydrogen has huge potential. Electric has high overhead regarding to recycling and disposing of hazardous materials.

Li-S (Lithium Sulfur) batteries are coming out in the next couple years and will have up to THREE times the energy of current Li-Ion/Li-Po batteries. They will also be cheaper, safer, and more environmentally friendly.

GreenPlease, can you say a bit more on power density with Li-S? I never thought that was even a remotely a question with car batteries, which are looking at a discharge rate in hours, not minutes, right?

I hadn't heard of Lithium Titanate, thanks I will look it up.
