Audi Canada announces best January sales in its history

AJAX, ON, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - Audi Canada announced today that sales in January were up by 25.1% over those of the same month in 2007. A total of 573 new Audi vehicles were sold in the month of January 2008. This result marks a new all-time January sales record for the Audi brand in Canada. The leading models in terms of sales were the A4 sedans and Avants, the sporty TT coupe and roadster and the Audi Q7 performance SUV. January sales by model line were:

In the time it took me to read that Audi Canada had a record year, selling 573 cars, BMW sold 573 750iL's in the NY metro area.

So, assume Audi makes $us 2,000 profit on average on each car - they earned themselves a net profit of $1,146,000 in Canada last year. Heck, they'd make more money if they bought an 'Autospies-Canada' franchise from 001 and started operating up there. :-)

Got to hand it to their staying power.

Nybimmer, it all adds up. If Audi's are sold in say 100 countries and sell 573 cars in all of them using your number of $2000 profit (it is actually $5000 or so for Audi) per car that would mean $114million in profit. Not bad considering GM sold 9.6 million cars last year and lost over 10billion in the same period!! In most cases small branches like Audi Canada is owned by an individual not audi. For example, one guy own Subaru US sales for almost 20years until subaru themselves decided to come here in fullforce and the bought the company from him and renamed it subaru usa. So 2 million in profit may not be so bad for the dude. The same thing is happening to Smart cars in the US, it will be sold through Roger Penske.

How about looking at BMW Canada sales, too?

"In the month of January, the BMW brand achieved record January sales of
1,102 units. This represents an increase of 8.9% over January 2007 BMW
vehicles sales in Canada."

Nobody sells a ton of cars in Canada. Audi's and BMW's numbers are both very good.
