Chicago Auto Show Preview: 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse breaks cover
The guys over at Edmunds Inside Line have posted pictures of the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe and spyder that will make their debuts at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show next week. There aren’t any major changes design wise besides a minor facelift on the front that gives the Eclipse a more aggressive appearance.

New this year is a dual exhaust system for the Eclipse GT variant that will bump output to 265hp and a torque of 262 lb-ft for the 3.8 liter V6. The V6 is...

those eclipses are also plagued with crankwalk.

Only after you add about another 300hp.

This 'face-lift' effectively brings the eclipse in line with Mitsubishi new aesthetic as defined by the (very good looking) Lancer/Evo...

The real question is, what was Mitsubishi thinking when they penned the (much less successful) updated 2009 Galant?

I agree, the ball was totally dropped on th 09 Galant. Ugly sedan. This update on the Eclipse however puts it in line with what I thought is the cyrrent design language from Mitsubishi. This facelift is alright.

Another FWD yawner from Mitsubishi. I had a 1995 Eclipse GSX and back then the eclipse was the king of its class. What happened?

If that car had 300hp, Rear or AWD, I'd be all over it. But as it stands now the eclipse is nothing special. Mitsubishi messed up. There was a time when the name "Eclipse" actually meant something.

The evo is the only car that mitsubishi produces that people actually care about. I really want them to get the brand together.

Wow, the Audi grille makes the Eclipse look much better. The grille was actually the only thing very wrong with the current model.

It's not an Audi grille. GT-R concept of 2002 and few others had them before Audi. And surely with EVO and this Eclipse, Mitsubishi lifted the grille of GT-R(Makes sense as both are Japanese Sports Cars). It's is something like Aggressive, Fast, sleek, evil, monstorissh...etc (unlike Audi).

btw this refreshed eclipse really looks good.

Nice. Looks more like the Lancer Evo now, which last I checked, isn't a bad thing.

I don't mind the styling actually. What irks me is the italicized "eclipse" at the back. If I bought one I'd rip those off.
