VW bring back the Phaeton with diesel power

The Phaeton limo may have been a major flop for Volkswagen but officials are keen to see the launch of a successor, especially in the U.S. where it could pose as a technical and environmental flagship for the carmaker. The original model was priced similarly to BMWs and Audis but it wore a humble VW badge, and there was nothing particularly exciting or innovative about the car to warrant its premium price tag, except for being ridiculously over-engineered. As for the new model, it could potentially feature VW’s advanced turbodiesel technology and utilize Audi’s new modular platform to create a true premium flagship.

As long as Ferdinand Piech is still on the board VW will keep screwing up. So the new one is going to come here with advanced diesel technology.....after the new S-class, 7-series and other have launched there own deisel technology!! Nobody buys top luxury cars because of technology or fuel efficiency, they buy them because they are trying to make a statement. What statement did the last pheaton make? " I take chances" or "I've never heard of the Audi A8" or "my car uses the same chassis as the Bently continental" or wost still "I bought an $80k car and my dealer does not give a damn about me because there are other customer waiting in line with their brand new $17k jettas" .

Give it a break VW, just call the new CC "he pheaton" price it at $39900 and see the car sell, drop a in later and sell that for $45 (since the XF V8 $49900 and the Hyundai V8 might be $40k). Ferdinand, call me if you need more advice!! Or just read the blogs on Autospies, you might learn a thing or 2.
