Different rating system - 91 US is like 95 in the rest of the world - 95 is the standard in the UK, the 97 premium, then this stuff, but it is rare.

94 is highest I've seen in the NE

This car is not getting 520 bhp like said in the post article above.... check the picture in the link... The car gets 457.7 hp at the wheels, therefore bhp.

The 520 hp calculation is supposedly ENGINE hp... and considering the engine stayed in the car during the test.. this engine hp is an ESTIMATE.. Every car has a different percentage of loss through the transmission, tires, etc.. The only true measurement we can take from this dyno, on 102 octane fuel, is that the car gets 457.7 BHP.

Let's start from the "facts" here..

- 457.7hp at the wheels (bhp)
- then the computer calculates the ENGINE having 520hp
- that means 88% of the engine's power is actually present at the wheels through transmission loss, etc.. - Who imputed this 88% number into the computer? each car has a different amount of loss, therefore this is adjustable on dyno machines.
- If the car had a 15% loss from engine to wheels your computer would have said the engine is 526.36hp at @ the engine, if there was 20% loss from engine to wheels the computer would have said the engine had 549.24hp @ the crank..

Therefore the 520hp number is a speculative guess on what the R35 GTR looses through the transmission.. the only real info we can get from here is the R35 GTR gets 457.7 BHP on 102 pump gas.. with Nissan posting 480hp at the engine on premium gas, not 102octane.

Still very impressive.. if you read through the mis-information.

if they pulled the engine out, put in on an engine stand, and dynoed the engine.. then they would know what the engine actually puts out... but who cares, that's the point of the drive up dyno machines, to find out what power is actually getting to the pavement, not to the engine..

Yes but 102 Ultimate costs over 12 dollars a gallon.

All they have to do is twin turbo the V-8 in the ISF and blow the doors off this nissan.

OK so they are taking actual engine hp, vs. wheel hp (bhp). That makes sense. I know that Cam 2 which is similar to 102 octane is like $10-12 a gallon in the US, and not techincally legal for street use. So to me this test is slightly flawed and they should have run it off of regular everyday by at your station premium fuel and seen what it gets.

Either way still incredible numbers for the car.
