Some Need All The Help They Can Get: Great Cars For First Dates
Why should a female auto journalist give you advice on great date cars? Because as far as cars go, I know what turns a woman on and what really turns her off.

So, what do potential dates perceive when you drive up?

On the first date with my husband, he drove me around in an old Volvo sedan with very squeaky brakes. Derick is an actor and his car reflected his lifestyle as a struggling artist dedicated to his talent. I was obviously more impressed by his intelligence, reliability and determination rather than his status or style.

But most women these days are rather picky when it comes to a guy's ride. Your car really does send her all the right or wrong messages about how much money you make and what gets your engine running. Let's be honest, some girls just like a flashy ride too.

You do realize that most people dont make enough money to afford anything else, which most likely includes you.

I agree the eclipse sucks, but the 350z is a great sports car for the money.

Eclipse convertible is definitely a chick car. She'll like it a lot, but she may question your manhood if you own one.

The writer comments how much driving the 350Z reminds her of a Corvette... Then why not just get the Corvette instead? If you think the Z is manly, then a Corvette is like a Z on steroids (more power, nastier attitude.)

In my experience, women don't know much about cars. They're impressed by anything that looks fairly new with leather seats and a high-tech stereo in the dash. They are also really impressed by features like automatic start, heated seats, satellite radio, auxilary stereo input for the I-pod, navigation system, etc. Any car with a clean paint job and a few bells and whistles should impress a broad on a first date. At least this is what i've discovered in my experience.

You can't beat the cachet of brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or exotic makes like Ferrari (if you are so lucky!) But any car with a few modern features and comfortable seats will make her get in and say "I like this, what is it?"

Women aren't great judges of substance when it comes to important machines (cars, guns.) Trinkets and shiny things are usually all it takes to occupy their attention.

No that all women are this shallow, but many of them are, and if you were good looking and decent enough to get a date with her in the first place she will definitely take u seriously

Interesting that they are all coupes, and most are convertibles. Guess that says nothing about a sport sedan, or for the country girls a nice one-ton pickup.

my personal choice for any date is the Escalade. It will definitely impress the girl, and there's room inside to seal the deal right in the restaraunt parking lot!

The problem with her premise is that she ASSUMES that someone with one her preferred rides actually does have wealth is somehow better than someone that does not. Not the smartest way to judge considering many successful people do not waste money on expensive cars. Image and substance two different things.
