Jaguar dealers take 10,000 deposits for XF

Jaguar has globally taken 10,000 deposits, including 3,000 from the U.S., for the upcoming Jaguar XF. Jaguar executives said that they released the figure just to show the impact of the new XF without the company having to even advertise of offer cars available for test drive.

Instead Jaguar spent time training dealers for events that include their loyal and rich-customers only. The company put together a 21-city road show with a few XF models in tow, training entire dealerships at once. Dealerships were than told to conduct events for their wealthy and loyal customers.

Good, I hope jaguar does well with this vehicle. The only dissapointment about the vehicle is that they showed it everywhere in "perriwinkle metallic" I cant wait to see it in black metallic with brown interior, classy!

I attended the XF 'Event' here in Las Vegas - It was outstanding, and very informative.

I have yet to place a deposit (waiting to drive a CTS-V first), but I'm sure that many did!

Nobody gets a $10K deposit from me -- if the dealer goes bankrupt and the money is not held in trust somewhere, I'm shit out of luck.

Nobody is taking 10K deposits you moron. The deposits average between 1,000 to 5,000. and yes your deposit is guaranteed

Yeah, you are right bulldogs, I read too quickly. I have to speed-read everything as there is not enough time in a day. Anyway, the max deposit should be $500 on any vehicle as it's not worth a legal battle if you lose only $500.

Tata is a very successful company and before Tata has done anything I find that comment stupid. Jaguar and its dealers better hope that Tata can save Jaguar because the XF alone will not. The new XK was going to save Jaguar and it is selling worse than the previous generation version.

10,000 pre-orders is not that many. Not when Jaguar is hoping to sell about 30k cars in the US. It is a good step in the right direction, but will take alot more than the Xf to right the ship.

By the way Jaguar nearly in car company terms broke even this year with all the decreased sales. So the XF should put the company back in the black. do your homework before you spout off

I'm not a Jaguar fan, but I must say that the XF has really impressed me. It is a far cry from what Jaguar had to offer before. I'm glad they parted ways with the usual design theme and went the other way. I think this car will do well on sales.

Well 3000 orders in the US alone without any advertizing is not a bad feat. It's even more impressive when you realize it's Jaguar.It's truely amazing what modern dynamic styling can due to sales.Tata will only help Jaguar. They will probably be somewhat hands off. They also have to still work with Ford regarding mechanical parts. The only thing they might do is give Fiat access to the XF chassis for Alfa Romeo.

Its a nice car, but I don't know if its going to sell too well. Deposits are no indication of sales. We'll also see how it ages. Good reviews so are though...

The reviews for the XF have been good but let us see how this car fares in a comparison test with the class leaders, than we will have a better idea. Let us not forget that Jeremy clarksen said the XK was the best car in its class and it has flopped, selling worse than the previuos one. The XF has a tough hill too climb.

What's up Lyonboy, and what did you say that we should see how XF compares with class leaders like 5 series, or did you mean an A6? Well the XF trumped the 5 seires in reviews by Autocar and by Jeremy Clarkson in his Times column. And who told you that XK sales have plummeted, as far as i can see, XK was the 10th best selling coupe in Germany, ahead of 6 series and only trailing 2 spots behind the Merc SL.

How many cars in recent memory had over 10000 deposits? I can easily tell that you don't like the fact that Jaguar is selling so much. Well get used to it, because buyers will be more exposed to the Xk when they go to check out the XF, and so it will sell more, and also don't forget the upcoming XJ, which should be even more awesome.

I assure you S430, that the front is quite great if you have seen it in flesh.

The sales figure are impressive. And guess what only 3000 of this deposits were from US, so it looks like even outside the NA market, this car is a big hit. And good news for all of us, TATA is saying that it will sell off jaguar once it acquires it from FORD.

I've seen it in person and I think it is NOT very good looking! There is nothing about the XF that makes me want to own one. I'll stick with the real "4-door coupe" Mercedes CLS.

I agree with S430, it looked much better as a prototype especially the profile looked sportier.
