BMW X6 pricing released, starting at $52,500

Ready to make its market debut in the second quarter of 2008, the BMW X6 xDrive35i will start at $52,500 while the XDrive50i will start at $63,000. The xDrive50i comes standard with Navigation with RTTI and Multi-contour seats.

The BMW X6 xDrive35i is powered by a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The xDrive50i boosts power from a 4.4L V8 that produces 400 horsepower with a peak torque of 450 lb-ft. Both models come with twin-turbo and direct injection. 0-60 for the xDrive50i comes in at 5.3 seconds.

1995e34, the reason people that use a bluetooth ear piece is because you have to talk a little louder for the person you're talking to to hear you, and it'a hard to hear your caller when using one, but when I'm in a grocery store I never use one.

This must be the most ridiculous car ever made, completely useless. What kind of people buy this thing? People who think an X5 has got too much headroom in the back or its trunk is too spacious? Bad products can sell well thanks to good marketing which has been proven before...

I'm not a big fan of the styling, but to be honest, this is probably closer to the true design critera for the X5 than the X5 itself.

BMW has always insisted that the X5 was a SAV, not a SUV. The fact that the X5 has more space in the back, and even an optional 3rd row of seating now are compromises that BMW has made in order to sell more of them. But it seems like the X6 is a truer expression of the SAV concept.

In other words, it has turned out that the X5 buyers are suburban yuppies, so X6 is trying to appeal to DINKs (dual income, no kids).

If Infiniti boosts the engine in the next FX (FX50?) It should have no problem getting to 60 sub-6 seconds, and would probably top out in price where this one starts. Probably the only competitor, you should neglect the RRSport because its a REAL SUV, and the Cayenne is very expensive in comparison.

These prices came out like 10 days ago.

And ding ding ding, we have a winner. "The Cayenne is way more expensive". THAT'S who BMW is targeting with this car. Alpha male young Wall Street types who want to make a statement out on the road and to their buddies at the country club. As long as it turns heads, puts a smile on their face while they drive, and fits golf clubs (it's designed to fit four bags), that's all that matters.

It's not going to be a volume car, never was. But there are more than enough young buck executypes out there to sell out of what they're building.

A pointelss car. Only for show. That's just a X5 with less space/fast back-like roof. BMW don't fool people it's no Sports coupe (and also Cayenne is no sports car). What is happening to these german manufacturers especially BMW and Porsche.

Well we can see both are new in SUV segment and have zero history and experience with SUVs. They want to do them in their own way.

any I think the smart ones should opt for the X5 over X6. It's better in everything.

In the US market, "Sport" doesn't necessarily mean performance, it can also mean outdoor recreational activities.

The X6 will appeal to people who want to drive a big German vehicle because it's impressive, but the 7-series/S-class/A8 is too big, and the X5/M-class/Q7 is too "family" or too common.

Well it looks like I'll be skipping in my 325i still. It's a bit higher then I expected. But many poeple would opt for the X5 if it was priced near/same as the X5. In order to differentiate they had to price higher or it would trump the X3 sales if lowered.

Actually, it is priced very well. Much better than I thought. It is right between the X5 3.0 and X5 4.8L. Apparently, all the nay sayers havent really seen this in person. At the chicago autoshow the consensus during the week I worked there was the X6 is very sharp. You goofs forget that the X6 comes standard with 19" wheels, front & rear Park distance control, and a 300 hp twin turbo 6 cyl. My client just priced one out at $ 57,825 with Premium Package, Navigation, & cold weather package ...

If it's built, somebody's gonna buy it!!! But quite frankly (and this is coming from somebody that doesn't like suv's to begin with) if you're going to build an suv, make sure you can take it to the mountains, tow, and beat it up a bit if the need arises. A BMW is not that, if you want performance, stick to cars. Furthermore, it's a niche, and not a money making segment, bad product planning. But I'm just one guy talking here!! >8P
