The front end has certainly been toned down from the IROC.Saying that the car is more attractive then any Golf GTI or R32. The Top Gear web sight had an interior photo. That is a bit dissapointing as it looks to be a carbon copy of the interior of the EOS.There have been comments that it now seems to look more like Volvo's C30. It does hint a little of the C30 but I think it is more agressive looking. I could now also see why VW of America did not want to bring it across the pond. It is essentially a lower hatchback version of a Golf. In fact the front end styling is supposed hint at the next generation Golf/ Rabbit.

Agreed, but let me say that the Volvo C30 is a beautiful design.

what's with the big fat bumper. Looks like shark's open mouth. Ugly.

Rest looks OK.

anyway Golf looks much better.

What, just like the EVO X grille that you said looks aggressive and 'shark like'?

So Volkswagen isn't allowed to have an aggressive front end?

I think overall it looks better than a Golf. The concept car was more aggressive. What I don't understand is why they made a 3 inch lower Golf. This car should have been a coupe. If the front and rear end is supposed to be similar to the next Golf then there would never be any reason to import it here to the US.VW is simply too timmid to make a real coupe at this point as they fear lack of sales if the car is not practical.I think this car is a dumb marketing move.

So u don't find EVO X to be aggressive and evil looking? And anything shark related in EVO X is the headlights together with aggressive front fascia. Not just the grille.

I don't why VW/Audi don't discontineo ugly bland big mouth grille. The usual grille on them is something like a big mouth like gaping mouth of whale and this looks like the open mouth of Shark.

Usually rest of their car look fine. It's just VW/Audi front fascia which makes me not like the overall styling of VW/Audi.

Wow, im disappointed. The Concept looked very promising. The car looks like a complete failure. Front end looks terrible. Reminds me of a C30 & Peugout hybrid.
God i was hoping it would look good. :/
Guess ill stick with my 07 GTI.

The Evo X is being marketed differently then the Sciroco. The Sciroco is a FWD supposedly sport coupe that can hold 4 people on occasion. The Evo is a 4dr AWD that easily seats 4 that competes with not only the WRX/STI but also the BMW 3 series sedan. The Scirocco was always a 2dr sport coupe. That was it's heritage. VW is so concerned that there won't be enough room for 4 people that they decided to make a hatchback rather than a fastback like the original was. The problem is that they simply made a lower to the ground Golf. I was hoping for somthing like a VW version of the Audi TT.The VP of VW Of America Adrian Hallmark did not want to import it to the US because he felt it would canabalize sales of the Golf GTI and Golf R32. Looking at this car I think he is right. It's simply not different enough. Also the new Golf coming out will have a very similar front facia(similar lights and narrow grill). So I ask you why would you buy a GTI or R32 that looks similar but has about 3 inches less headroom. It;s not offering anything that much different and I think you are just splitting the pie of buyers. People who like coupes will not buy it.I predict it will not sell well. VW could have made this a genuine coupe but they came up with a cross between a C30 and a GTI.At least when they had that monster grill on the concept the car might have been distinctive enough to be different. Now its the new corporate face for all the Golf variants. The old Scirocco is way more appealing than this.

It's certainly nice looking, but we knew from the concept that it was not going to really be a coupe. I too don't understand the point - it really is just too similar to the Golf. I personally would probably pick this over the GTI, just because I like the looks and wouldn't need the extra head room of the GTI. But it's not a coupe, and it should have been - it would have been easy to update the roofline and old rear-quarter window shape which made the old Scirocco so distinctive.
