If the Dems win the presidential election, they should pass a federal law that supersedes all state laws and completely overhauls all current franchise laws and similar legislation to give OEMs wide latitude to amend or terminate agreements that are contrary to the public interest. The system currently in place appears to promote monopolies and price fixing in the wholesale and retail auto trade which is inflationary and therefore contrary to the public interest.

Yes, and if the Democrates win the election, they're planning to review or pull out of the Free Trade Agreement in between USA, Canada and Mexico. I am not exactly in favor of paying for their war in Irak, non-existant health-care system, etc. We're already paying enough taxes in Canada as it is.

Interesting article. Toyota is already cost-competitive in many of their segments; think about its success without the mark-up of these two middleman companies! I guess you’ll never see GM or Ford complain about this Toyota practice.
