This is old news, but I think it's a cool car.

Wow. It makes every other hot hatch (including the GTI/R32) look dated and dowdy.

I don't get it - even hot hatches are being 'coupafied' a la Mercedes CLK? - I agree with senorgato...plus the front facia reminds me of Kia's latest concept coupe, resembles nothing from the VW line-up...

Looks nice except for oversized big fat bumpers(Typical VW/Audi).

i wonder if this means they are getting rid of that big mouth bass grill. the concept of this car had the large grill like the rest of vw lineup

but ihave to admit there is something like about this car, and i really like the old ferrari style seats, they look straight out of the old ferraris with the horizontal lines and than color. i wonder why they wont bring that car here......

VW does not want to bring the car here because it is too much like a GTI.The new front grill and lights are very much like the new generation mark 6 Golf. This car is about 3 inches lower. The car is not bad on it's own but VW is afraid that it would take away sales from the the GTI and R32.If the car was designed as a coupe it might have had a better chance in the US.The problem is it's a 4 seater hatch. I personally think it will steal sales away from the GTI and R32 in Europe as well. The interior seems straight out of the EOS. One possibility would be to import the up coming convertable to the US.Perhaps if VW marketed this as a roadster or spider then it would change the game a bit.

You guys are looking at it all wrong. Think of it as a Mercedes E-CLS combo. one for practicality and one for style, and both have sporty models of their own.

So you're saying this is 2 cars in one Dr.Jeykille and Mr.Hyde. Interesting theory. I'm not quite sure VW designers think this way but I'll go with it. By the way looking at the interior there appears to be 2 elements that were carried over from the Iroc concept car. They are the grab handles around the gear box and the same design on the inside doors. The rest seems to be pure EOS.
